Large Fenced Yard, Nice Walks

Pet care experience

We both have decades of experience with animals of all kinds. We are active fosters with Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue and have fostered over 50 dogs - from healthy dogs to sick dogs, from seniors, to puppies and we have fostered three Mama dogs and their litters. We truly enjoy meeting new dogs and petsitting and fostering! We have a large fenced yard and a perfect neighborhood for walks. Our schedules make it so there’s usually not much time our pups are alone. If you’re interested in looking up more, we do have an Instagram Account @ourgoldenyears that chronicles all our past rescues and fosters and our current boy Otis. ❤️ Otis is our boy from Peak Lab Rescue. Otis is deaf with his little ear flaps sewn shut following a TECA (total ear canal ablation) as a last resort for horrific ear infections (the worst the vet had seen in his 30 year career)😔. We have used a vibrating collar to train him which you may see on him occasionally. It ensures his safety when he’s off lead and also has helped to train him that most people don’t exactly love jumping hugs from an 80 pound lab 😬🤦🏼‍♀️ (Just Dad!). He is thankfully pain free now after his surgery and doing great. I now am realizing I just typed over a paragraph or more about him and his ears - he is our sweet boy. Just know we bring this level of dog obsession into caring for your pup 🤣. Our first experience using Rover ourselves for our own dogs was a straight nightmare. The sitter didn’t spend the night as we’d paid them to and then failed to show up the next morning for our dogs - they had been left for 14 plus hours alone, no breakfast, and had not been let out - and we were 300 miles away. After numerous failed attempts to contact the sitter, and realizing she just wasn’t responding or going to show, we had family and friends scramble to help. We strive to give our client’s the exact opposite of that experience as we know what it’s like to trust someone with the care of your dog, and we strive to never fall short of delivering there. We’re always happy to send plenty of pictures and videos and updates so you know your pup is happy & safe.

Katie takes the best care of our Murphy! He loves visiting her… (he jumps out of the car and runs to her door!) thank you.

As our first rover experience, we were really happy leaving our 2 dogs with Katie. She was super accommodating to them and gave them attention, love and snuggles. She gave us lots of pictures, videos and updates which was really nice! Charlie and Kingston can’t wait to stay with you again in the future!

Katie was so incredible! We recently adopted a rescue dog who has had a lot of change in his 6 years. Katie, as a foster, was so gentle and patient with him as he was very anxious. She kept in constant communication with me throughout his stay and made me feel totally comfortable in leaving him with her. Thank you for taking such good care of our boy and giving us peace of mind!

Safety, trust & environment

Our animals are family. ❤️ They have free rein of the whole home. We are mindful of safety and creating a calm environment for your animal! We like to only board 2 Rover dogs at a time, and only dogs that are good with others. At pick ups and drops off we will usually have Otis our dog and any other dog we’re watching upstairs. This is after numerous chaotic pick ups and drop offs where everyone was so excited and it was mayhem. Also after a sweet dog body slammed both himself and a metal gate into me when he was so excited to meet new people. 😂 Safety wise, and to limit stress, we found it’s easiest way to do them!

Information Katie B. would like to know about your pet

We have a dog of our own who gets along with other dogs! We recently lost two of our senior rescues. We also have a 5 year old daughter who we’ve taught to be respectful, gentle and loving with animals. It would be great if your dog also liked other dogs and important that your dog is good with young children. Any information you have about your dog would be great to know! We will always be here and on time for any meet & greets or drops offs/pick ups. Any last minute cancellation or change of plans will only be if there is an emergency or another situation outside our control. We appreciate the same!! We have no breed preference, we do foster through a Golden Retriever rescue and love all Goldens and golden-hearted pups. We don't discriminate - all dogs are amazing.

We live on about an acre in a quiet wooded neighborhood about 10 minutes from downtown Raleigh. Our neighborhood is perfect for walks and we have a 6 foot privacy fence in a large backyard perfect for fetch or sunbathing on the deck.
