Dedicated Sitter & Home full time!
Pet care experience
Hi! My name is Kathy and I am a sitter with Rover.com I have always been a dog lover, having grown up in a home with dogs and that only increased as I grew up. Before I joined Rover I would often dog sit for family and friends. I worked fulltime for years and so never had time for a dog of my own. When I was no longer able to work I wanted to get a dog, but couldn't afford the cost of its care. A friend referred me to Rover and I realized that this could be a good way to enjoy the companionship of a dog and earn money at the same time. There is an old joke that says "God is dog spelled backwards", but it's really not far from the truth. Dogs are pure love: You'll never find a better friend or more loyal companion and all they want is to be with you in return. When your dog comes to stay with me, I will treat him or her like my own, with plenty of love, affection, and trips to the park or dog beach. My experience administering medication: Yes. I often had to do it with my Labrador, Nicole in her senior years.
Reviews
Kathy was exceptional with our dog Stella. She was available in short notice and took such good care of her. She sent daily pictures and updates which was very sweet. She loved Stella like we do. I would highly recommend using Kathy as a dog sitter. I will definitely be using her again when we go out of town.
I left my little poodle with Kathy for a few hours. He seemed relaxed and happy when I picked him up. Thanks Kathy!
Kathy was great with our puppy! We had some specific instructions for him and she followed through with no problem. 10/10 would book when again!
Kathy is a great dog person! I was very nervous to try a dog sitter. After talking to Kathy I had a good feeling about her. She has so much experience with different dogs and assured me that Harley would be fine. She took Harley to the dog park and he had a blast! She sent us lots of pictures and a video of Harley running around with other dogs. She also uses a seatbelt on Harley in her car.

Information Kathy C. would like to know about your pet
I like to know if they are on any medications and if they have any problems- physical or psychological- that I need to be aware of. With the big dogs, I like to see how they behave when on the leash or with other dogs: Will they pull or suddenly yank on the leash and try to drag me in the direction they want to go, or will they walk close to my side and respond quickly to my voice and commands? Do they interact well with other dogs and can they be trusted to run off leash in the dog park that is fenced off and enclosed? I also like to get an idea of their personalities and to learn ahead of time if they have any bad habits so I can stay a step ahead of them and keep temptation out of their path. I like to know about their personalities, the things they like or dislike since I wouldn't want to create a situation that upsets or scares them. Sometimes dogs have a past before they come to their forever homes and there are things that have happened that will affect them forever. I have to say I like retrievers best. I love to see the dogs when they chase after a ball or a stick. They look like they are having so much fun.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks I live in a very dog friendly area where people often put out water bowls or bowls with small treats for passing dogs. Many shops in the area welcome dogs and the owners greet the dogs as well as the customers when we come in. We can walk along the beach or through the neighborhood where houses have yards and lots of grass and we will often encounter other dogs along the way. Regarding your dog's sleeping arrangements? Wherever you prefer. My couch is dog friendly as is my bed. I like their company at night as well as during the day. As long as they don't hog the covers I'm happy to share my bed with your dog. Time I'll spend with your dog: As much time as possible. I don't work outside the home and most of the places I might need to go on a daily basis, are dog friendly so your furry friends can tag along with me for company. I treat dogs like a combination of both best friends and family member. They are welcome to sleep with me (as long as they aren't too big). If they're too big for the bed, they will find my couch is very comfortable. My whole place is dog friendly; even the bathroom. I've learned they don't want me to go there alone so I just let them come in if that makes them happy. However some scurry back to the couch the second that they hear the shower come on. ;)
