Before sitting a dog, I would like to know about their medical problems (i.e. do they need medication, which numbers do the owners want me to call in case of emergency, etc). I would like to know how the owners feel about treats and whether they want me to not give any treats or use their brand or if it doesn't matter to them. I would also like to know their dog's average wake/sleep schedule and feeding schedule so I can try to keep the dog's energy levels as normal as possible to what their used to. I would also need to know if there are any special behavioral habits, such as not good around other dogs and doesn't enjoy the dog park, not good with water, pulls strongly on the leash, will try to chase cars or skateboards, etc. And I would also like to know if there are other pets in the house, such as cats or birds or fish, even if I don't need to attend to them directly.

For my dog, I like to walk her in Tompkins Square Park. When we walk, part of the time is structured, so we bond and exercise together, and part of the time is free for her to sniff and take her time for mental stimulation and exploration. I also take her to the dog park, where she loves to play with the other dogs and splash in their small dog pool. For other dogs who prefer to play with toys, I'll play tug with strong dogs who prefer direct interaction, and fetch with high energy working breeds.
