Pet care experience
Growing up I was the typical "Neighborhood Kid Who Loves All the Animals and Watches Your Pets While You Go on Vacation." It's always been my favorite kind of work! I of course took every pet-watching job I could, some of which included administering medicines, then moved on to volunteering 100 service hours to the P.A.W.S. animal shelter during high school, and eventually found myself working at Jefferson Parish's east-bank animal shelter for about a year. I have plenty of experience in walking small, medium, and large dogs up to around 100+ lbs, as well as significant practice with administering medication orally, optically, and occasionally intravenously. I have also grown up with cats, can give them medicine as well, and have also cared for various snakes species, small mammals, and small birds in the past. I am open to caring for any and all critters as needed!

This is the first time Kathryn took care of my dogs while I was away; she did everything I asked and some without asking like “poop patrol”.. She sent pictures of my dogs every day which made the separation a much more tolerable. Based upon those pictures, I could tell they were happy and in good hands.
Kathryn is great!! I have a pitbull mix and a Chihuahua mix. She has watched them for me multiple times. My Chihuahua is terrible with new people. Kathryn took the time to introduce herself to my Chihuahua and now he absolutely loves her! I've had her walk him a few times as well, never had any issues. Kathryn follows my instructions for meds and feedings well. I trust her anytime I need a sitter or walker!
Kathryn is a caring pet lover and dog mom herself. She has volunteered at animal rescue groups and was an employee at the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter. You can rest assured that your fur babies will be well cared for and safe.
Kathryn was our cat-sitter for 2 weeks this past year while we were out of the country. She went over and above in taking care of them. Kathryn is very loving and will do what it takes to make sure your pets are healthy, safe and happy. I am using her again in January.

My backyard is unfenced, however I do have a long leash hooked up outside so that no animals can run off suddenly while I sit outside with them! The yard itself is attached to a golf course so there is plenty of open space for dogs to run around and play. There is also a small field nearby that grows little flowers nearly all year round that will offer plenty of smells for the pups to investigate! I live to be outside so I am more than happy to provide daily walks and runs if needed. I do have a dog of my own, and she is friendly with most other dogs (she does not like un-neutered males), though she is older and tends to enjoy lazing around more than running or rough-housing. If she does not get along with your dog for any particular reason then it is not an issue - she is very well kennel-trained and can be kept in a separate room so neither animal is stressed out!

Information Kathryn P. would like to know about your pet
Before sitting for any dog, I would like to know how they interact with other dogs as well as cats so that I know how to introduce them to mine in the least stressful way. In that same vein, I would also need to know if they exhibit any sort of food, water, toy, or any other type of resource aggression. Then of course I'd like to know if the dog is afraid of anything in particular, or if there are any behaviors the owner would like me to encourage/discourage! I love all breeds of course, but especially medium-large breeds. Huskies and Pit Bull Terriers are my favorites!
A typical day
I myself go for walks in the park almost daily, so I'll be delighted to bring your pup along with me! There are multiple playgrounds in my area with half-mile walking tracks in pretty, grassy areas, plus I love visiting Bayou Segnette State Park and City Park with my own dog as well! And for anyone who may prefer I keep their pet close to home, there are a few beautiful fields in and around my own neighborhood that are well maintained and usually have short flowers growing for most of the year. I have a variety of dog toys that my own dog has no interest in so they have remained new and clean and ready to be fetched!

Availability
I am currently part-time and have more free time than I know what to do with, so my schedule is quite flexible at the moment! Ideally would like to find someone looking for long-term care, however I realize I'm new to the service and understand that it will take time for owners to trust a newbie. I am very dedicated and promise I am worth taking a chance on!
