Responsible, Grad Student for Hire

Pet care experience

I am a new resident to DC, having moved for graduate school this past June from NY. All my life I have lived with pets, both dogs and cats, however my new living situation sadly does not allow for me to have a pet. As a big animal lover, I sorely miss having pets in my life for their love and companionship and with graduate school, I have a flexible schedule that will allows me plenty of time to spend checking in on your pets. Most of my experience with dogs comes from raising my family's two Wheaton Terriers, who have sadly passed away in recent years of old age. When they were puppies, I played a huge roll in helping train our dogs basic commands (sit, stay, roll over, etc.) and was always responsible for feeding and walking our dogs. Most recently, in the last year of my dog's life I was also responsible for administering a daily IV to treat her failing kidneys. As such, I feel pretty confident in my abilities to care for dogs of any age.

Kathryn was wonderful! Very communicative, professional, and responsible. If we didn't move, we would absolutely use her again. Would definitely recommend!

We felt very secure and comfortable leaving our dear old pets, Wayne (13 yr old feline) and Clifford (13 yr old dachshund) with Kathryn in our own home for a whole month. She was responsible and thoughtful, asking us permission at every turn and sending us delightful photos of two perfectly content furries. My husband, Jon, is now home with our pets (I'm still on the road!) and he reports that they've been a little blue since she walked out the door. That's just about the nicest compliment they (or we) could give her. Thank you, Kathryn!

Kathryn took good care of my puppy, Buddy, and was flexible with his slow gains with house training and having accidents inside! She also got stuck sitting for him when the weather was terrible and he's very resistant to going outside, and she was flexible with that as well. When I got home he seemed tired and happy, so all is well! She sent updates and kept good notes for me of what they did throughout the day. Thanks Kathryn!

We had an emergency and Kathryn was good enough to step in to take care of our pets at the very last minute. She was reliable, the pets were well taken care of, and we are very grateful. Highly recommend.

Information Kathryn N. would like to know about your pet

No breed preferences, but please include your dog's - Size (weight) - Age - Energy level - Temperament - If they're trained/are used to walking on a leash or not - Dietary restrictions/needs - Any fears/sudden reactions they may have (Ex- if they pee when frightened, are possessive of their food, etc) - Your expectations/anything else you think I should know about your pet

A typical day

Because I'm new to the city, I'm still exploring and getting to know it. With me, your dog can expect to check out whatever is nearby in your neighborhood, or with your permission, other parks and pet friendly areas in the city. And don't worry, I will most definitely be bringing plenty of water for the both of us. I love to walk myself, but if your dog doesn't, that's okay too. I'm happy to play fetch, tug of war, or just give endless belly rubs. Really, it's up to them.
