Joy For Both Ends Of The Leash
Pet care experience
Our furry companions are part of the family. Sometimes they aren't able to come on our vacations or go to work with us and I am here to make sure that time apart is as stress free and enjoyable as possible for all members of the family. I have been a pet care professional full time since 2021 and love the relationships I have gotten to build with the families and their pets. I have always loved animals, but my passion for quality pet care started after I adopted Marshall. He is a sweet dog with some behavioral issues and I had a hard time finding someone I felt comfortable leaving him with. As I worked with trainers and a behaviorist, I realized there is so much more to caring for animals than just walks, play and pets. While all of those things are great, many dogs need more experienced handlers and people who can read their body language and personalize their care plans. I have an understanding of canine body language, canine and feline enrichment, fear free handling, basic training and senior care. I personalize my care plans to best fit your pets usual schedule and their physical and mental needs.
Reviews
Kathryn was an AMAZING pet sitter for our two dogs and cat! She was extremely responsive in communications, was wonderful with our animals, brought games and toys and treats, and sent pictures and texts with updates. I would highly recommend her for any sitting needs!

My focus is on providing enriching and stress free care. I spend a lot of time building a bond with my furry clients through cooperative care, force free handling methods and enrichment activities. For dog walks I come prepared with treats, a slip lead, and an animal deterrent spray. I like to give them plenty of time to sniff and explore and will incorporate the commands they know and play into the walks. For drop in visits I always start with a bathroom break and then provide mental and physical activities with time at the end to decompress and settle down before I leave. For pet sitting I try to adapt my plans and visits to closely resemble their usual schedule. I believe in frequent bathroom breaks. I want them to be as comfortable as possible. As I get to know the animals I start to structure the visits to better fit their interests, physical activity requirements, and the time they need to settle back down into a calm state of mind.
Information Kathryn K. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pet has any special needs that I can plan ahead for. Before my meet and greets I like to know about any fears/reactivity issues/triggers so we can set up a stress free meeting for you and your animal. Please let me know if your dog is territorial of the home or has a bite history. I am happy and capable of working with fearful dogs/dogs with behavioral issues - I just need to know ahead of time so we can come up with a management strategy.
A typical day
The activities and structure of my day is super dependent on the individual animal in front of me. Some of mine (and my furry clients') favorite activities are agility work, food puzzles, scent work, hide and seek, and playing with a flirt pole. I typically do most of the outdoor/physical activities during the mornings and evenings (especially when its hot). I like to find more quiet and less busy areas on walks. I find it helps a lot of dogs relax and sniff a lot more.
