Ive had dogs cats,hampsters, fish, horses and a box turtle named Leo. Since the day I was born my parents said I started trying to pick up random cats and petting random dogs- it would terrify them so they started teaching me young to respect animals. We always had them in the home from day 1 but as soon as I could speak I was praying with one eye open looking at my parents- for that next best friend that needed a home - sure enough I suckered my parents into rescuing quite a few of my best friends that way! That a few poster boards and forced family presentations…and trips to the SPCA. Because animals have always been apart of my family as well as responsibility (I’m a Capricorn) I believe special needs animals have found their way into my home and heart. As an adult I have been a huge advocate for all animals, especially Rescues. I recently moved here two years ago from Houston where there is a massive homeless population crisis and until Harvey we did not have a No-kill shelter even available to us. After the hurricane kit I started volunteering for Houston Pets Alive- an amazing No- kill Organization. My Rescue Staffy, Bunny, inspired me as well to start advocating for the very misunderstood breeds categorized under “pitbul”. She was found in the fifth ward in Houston, Starving and missing her puppies just after birth. She was set to be euthanized due to extreme medical special needs. She now knows 10 signs in American Sign Language and is the biggest child and cat lover I’ve ever seen. My second child is Winston, he is a Rescue Exotic short hair kitty who is 14 but you would never know it by his spunk. I adopted him from a Texas Persian rescue that said a woman in California dropped him off at the shelter because he no longer could work the show circuit anymore- she left him there with his ribbons 🎀 in a big baggy. I kid you not. Her loss. He joined the pack like a 🌟. Now completely Deaf he knows two signs in ASL and he is fine with that- (he can shake and sit. My third Angel baby, watches over us as of recently- He was a stage four kidney disease fighter- he had the disease very unusually early on- I got him on the side of the road at only 6 weeks old and I just knew something was wrong- I researched everything- I became an expert on the topic- he ended up needing subcutaneous fluids twice a day for over 5 years-❤️. I am very competent at medication administration- orally as well. Cats and dogs.
