I know strangers can make some of our pets uneasy, scared and want to hide under the bed. I would ease into letting them get to know me and gain their trust. Most dogs just want to know they are safe, get scratched behind the ears and their bellies rubbed. They need to go out and do their thing or play. When playing with them in their surroundings I would help them feel safe and be calm, and let them know it is ok for them to be around me. When walking them I would walk them and keep talking to them and make sure they are safe and can enjoy being on the walk. I don't have any special skills besides caring and making the dogs feel safe around me. I know dogs can pick up on how we feel around them. Being a dog should be fun and I want them to have all the fun they are able to have. They know when it is time to eat, time to play and time to go out. They are very smart. My dogs even know when the mailman or delivery truck has turned the corner. I have had dogs for over 25 years medium and large. I have dealt with dogs that are finicky eaters and dogs that are ill. You just have to be patient and treat them like your kids. Love them through it.
