Dedicated dog mom!

Pet care experience

I started caring for other peoples' pets when I worked from home as a way to help keep me more active and get some extra pet cuddles and playtime in. Since then I've returned to working outside the house, but loved looking after pets so much that I did not want to give it up, so now I'm happy to watch your dog, drop in on your cat, and feed your fish over the weekend. I grew up with two small dogs, and my partner and I now have our own corgi-mix (as well as two small finches) to complete our pack. I love walks and take my own dog for at least three a day, and am happy for any excuse to get outside and walk more. I also have experience caring for a range of other small animals, including fish, hamsters and birds. I can even water your plants for you if I'm stopping by to play with your pet. My partner is allergic to cats, so we are unable to board them, however I'm happy to pop by and feed and care for yours while you're away. I can do drop ins at any time over the weekend (and may be able to do evening drop ins during week days) for any type of pet. Caged pets and dogs are able to stay at my place over the weekend as well, either overnight (boarding) or just for the day (daycare). Policies (the boring but important stuff): I do not do pick ups or drop offs for boarding or daycare, so you will need to have some way of getting your fuzzy (or feathered or scaled) friend to my home. Drop off times: anytime after 8:00 am Pick Up times: anytime before 9:00 pm Depending on your circumstances I may be able to be a bit more flexible on the times, so if they do not work for you, let me know and we can see if we can work something out. Boardings (overnight at my home) are generally a 24 hour period, with a few hours flex time. If it is going to be significantly more, however (example: drop off at 9 am on the 1st, pick up at 9 pm on the 2nd = 36 hours) I may charge a daycare fee as well. Again, let me know what the situation is and we can figure something out. Daycare (staying the day at my home) is generally no more than 10 hours. Again, anything more than that may require me to add an additional charge ($1 for every extra hour). I do charge an additional fee for additional pets for daycare, walks and boarding. For walks, if you have three pets or more, let me know as the additional cost decreases, however Rover's system cannot manage that automatically so I will have to manually adjust the price (so don't panic immediately if you have multiple pets and the cost seems extreme when you enter it into Rover's system!). For daycare I only take one dog at a time. I do make an exception if you have two smaller dogs that get along well with each other, but I will require a meet and greet first. In this case it will be $25 for the first dog and $10 for the second. For walks I charge $15 for a half hour walk for one dog. If you have more than one dog it is an additional $3 for the second dog, and $1 for the third if they can all be walked together. (I will not walk more than three dogs at a time). If you have more than one dog but they need to be walked separately, I do still charge $15 for each, unless you are alright with the walks being shorter to fit them all in within that 30 minute period, in which case the above pricing will apply. For boarding, I also only take one dog at a time, however, again I do make an exception if you have two smaller dogs that get along well with each other, but I will require a meet and greet first. In this case it will be $30 for the first dog and $15 for the second. If you have a pet that you need me to look after that isn't a dog or a cat, let me know and we will discuss it's care requirements and needs and come up with custom pricing. What to bring with your dog for boarding and daycare: For your pets stay I require a leash and harness (if used), and enough food to last the stay (its wise to pack a bit extra just in case you are delayed picking your pet up and to be safe). If you can bring their bowls as well that would be good, as while I have some extra, I've noticed that sometimes dogs can be funny about eating out of different bowls. Other than that, you are welcome to bring any toys or bedding that might help your pet feel a bit more "at home" and relaxed. The only other thing I require is your pet's veterinarian contact info and an emergency contact number just in case something happens and I can't get in touch with you. (I've never had this happen, I just like to be prepared).

We needed a one time doggy daycare. We were happy to leave our dog, Bear with Katherine. She was very friendly and kind. She provided the personal care we were looking for. Katherine sent updates and pictures. We also appreciated that Katherine was flexible with the drop off and pick up time. We will definitely use Katherine again when we are in the Ottawa area.

I absolutely LOVED Katherine. I was really anxious to leave my dog with a sitter for the first time and she sent me so many cute photos, it made me feel so much better. I would definitely book with Katherine again.

Katherine was great - very trustworthy. We enjoyed hearing from her everyday and she made a point to write to us with tons of info to tell us how our cat was doing. Will hire again!

Katherine was an excellent sitter for my cocker spaniel Billie. It was my first experience using Rover & I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience because of Katherine. She was organized, great at communicating & made Billie her priority. I will definitely be using her services again & highly recommend you do too! Thank you, Katherine. Billie had a great time & I am sure will sleep for a week :)

Information Katherine S. would like to know about your pet

Here is a list of questions I would love to know about your dog: - Are they up to date on vaccinations (including Bordetella/kennel cough)? - Do they bark? Under what circumstances and how much? (I live in an apartment so while the occasional bark is okay, if your dog does more excessive barking we will not be a good fit). - How are they with other dogs? (While I only take dogs from one client at a time, I do have my own dog.) - Any medical or health concerns? - How much exercise do they need on a daily basis? What is their energy level? - What is their daily schedule like? - Do they have separation anxiety? How does it manifest? - How much and when are they fed? - Are they allowed treats? Any dietary restrictions? - How often do they need to go outside? How do they let you know when they do? - Anything else I should know? Any funny quirks or things they love?
