Katharine is extremely passionate about animals. She has her own dog, a two-year-old cavapoo named Charlie, that she loves more than anything in the world. She takes him to the dog park several times a week to socialize and ensure that he is healthy and happy. She regularly brings him with her when she travels as she knows their companionship is just as important to him as it is to her. Over the last year, Katharine spent her time volunteering and traveling in Latin America. While living in Colombia, she volunteered at a local animal rescue shelter where their mission was to rescue stray dogs, nurse them back to health (including vaccinations, spay/neuter, proper nutrition, and any other issues that needed to be addressed), and work to get them adopted. This was no small feat as there is a significant stray animal population throughout most of Latin America. She would often bring stray dogs home to feed them and remove ticks, and she would go out of her way to find them and play with them on the beach. Two in particular, who she affectionately named Lady and Fred, were her favorites. She also rescued a stray cat and her kitten that were on the verge of starvation by bringing them home. Although she never considered herself a “cat person”, she quickly came around. She bought all the necessities (food, bed, blankets, litter box, and litter) to prepare her apartment, and brought the cats home the next day. She slowly nursed them back to health, and regularly took them to the vet to get them examined and vaccinated. In the process she developed a deep bond and adopted them as her own. She never questioned the personal expense, both time and money, she was investing in these animals that he never asked nor planned for. More recently, in Princeton she has been volunteering at a local animal rescue shelter. She gets fulfillment out of ensuring that animals are happy and healthy and likes to spend as much time as she can with them to give them the love they deserve. Katharine pours her heart and soul into these animals as if they were her own beloved Charlie, and I have no doubt she would be a tremendous asset as a dog walker with your company.
