Pet care experience
I have fostered a string of dogs over recent years with the Dogs Friends Charity. This has given me experience with reactive dogs, sick dogs and supporting a stressed dog. I have had family dogs since I was a baby, and while I currently own no dogs myself, this is only due to me being a better foster carer without a resident dog in the house. I am currently taking a break from fostering but am looking to still care for dogs! I do not work full time so am able to pay full attention to any dogs I am caring for, and can give them as many cuddles, walks and kisses as they need (or do not need) during their time with me. I have a full driving license and access to a car so am able to pick up and drop off.
Reviews
Katharine looked after my nervous, energetic springer spaniel for the first time today and they came home happy and well walked! Thank you so much Katharine.
Katherine was super responsive to messages and very responsible and caring looking after Daphne. Thank you Katherine 🙏
Katharine (Katy) is very experienced with dogs. She grew up with Springer Spaniels and helped train them including fun agility. She has managed a reactive dog and a dog with severe epilepsy including administering emergency medication. She has a cool head in an emergency. She loves dogs and has recently fostered two, helping them find their forever homes. She is reliable and trustworthy and I wholeheartedly recommend her.
Highly recommend Katy for when you are in need of a minder for your pooch. She is dedicated, reliable and flexible. My little Niya can be a bit of a handful but Katy never has an issue with her, and she is happy and well looked-after when she comes homes. Katy is loving and caring and looks after your pet like it was her own - just what you want!

I do not have a resident dog. I have worked & cared for dogs who are crate trained, and dogs who aren't so I won't run into any trouble if your dog does not care to be crated. I do not have a garden but am based directly off the South Downs so am able to walk them across to there in under a minute (however I would not let them off anywhere near the road). And usually for an off lead walk I would drive myself and the pooch down to Leigh Woods as its far more secure for letting dogs off the lead! I also have extensive experience with an epileptic dog (so am able to handle a seizure) and I also have extensive experience with reactive dogs, so can handle a situation where a dog may act out.

Information Katharine B. would like to know about your pet
If they have any preferential vet in case of emergency please alert me to that. I'd always appreciate two incase of emergency numbers just in case you're unable to answer in a serious emergency! Let me know if theres any specific situations that can cause your dog to be reactive so that I can ensure I avoid those!
A typical day
I wake up, and immediately get the dog out for a short walk before breakfast! I find that this is the healthiest way of starting both of our days. I then return and get breakfast sorted for the pooch. I then usually wait an hour or two before a proper morning walk, I like to ensure that this is a long walk for the breed of dog I'm with (obviously this can vary depending on breed) just to ensure that I really tire them out for a nice long midday nap. If they're a younger dog I usually do another hour in the afternoon in one of the local fields where I can securely let them off (only if they have good recall). When there's a dog in the home they're never starved for attention as I'm a very hands on person - I usually just watch TV with the dog in the afternoon, then in the evening they get another 15-30 minute walk before bed just to really tire them out!
