Pet care experience

I am currently on a new adventure with a rambunctious black lab/boxer/pit puppy mix that is almost a year old (fully vaccinated and heartworm-free) and would LOVE to have some friends over to play. His name is Gutsy (he lives up to the name!) and when he is not in the yard playing fetch and chewing on sticks he likes to cuddle on the couch. In addition to my recently adopted puppy, I have been caring for dogs for 15 years. I grew up with two senior dogs and one dog we adopted as a puppy, fostered a dog with PAWS, and also adopted a high-needs pitbull named Sissy. I have experience dealing with complicated food allergies, medication schedules, and senior dog issues like incontinence and dementia. Other things to know about me, I love gardening and if I house sit I would love to care for your plants. I am also a big fan of saving money so I am posting some ways you can save on your Rover booking below. You can use these whether you choose to book with me or not. Pippin always got excited as we approached Katelynn’s place. I can’t think of any better endorsement for her than that. I was provided feedback at the end of the day as well as pictures during the day.

Because she is the baby, and I am how I am,I was nervous about leaving our 19 month old, 80 pound puppy overnight. I think the best endorsement I can give goes to the next time we took Pippin to have Katelynn watch her for a couple of hours. As soon as we got there, she was pretty much like, “I know where I am, she takes great care of me, and I love playing with my buddy. SEE YA!” Hi highly endorse Katelynn and Gutsy ??❣️

Katelynn did a great job taking care of our cat, including providing medicine twice daily.

Katelynn took such good care of Benito! He was totally comfortable with her from the moment he met her. He also loved being with her dog, Gutsy. When we picked him up he slept the rest of the day so I'm sure he got all his energy out with him ?

Gutsy is crate trained and sleeps/eats in his crate. We also have baby gates sectioning off the living room from the kitchen so we can provide a safe space for each dog to rest and eat meals separately. We use our baby gates as a double door system to ensure that your pet cannot accidentally escape from the house when we open the door. When the family is hanging out in the living room your pup will be welcome to join us on the couch. During the day they will frequently have chances to go outside to play whenever I am watering the garden or doing yard work. Our yard has a 5-foot wooden fence and the latch is about four feet off the ground but if your pup is an expert escape artist I can take extra precautions. Please note, since I am a gardener, there are bees that visit my flowers. Gutsy has already attempted to eat a few bees so if you know your dog is allergic then boarding/daycare in my home is not an ideal fit for you. I'd still be happy to discuss house sitting or drop-in visits instead if staying in my home is not an ideal fit. I truly love working with dogs and I want you to know your pet(s) are in good hands!

Information Katelynn C. would like to know about your pet

1) What is a normal schedule for your dog? Please include walk times, feeding times, and potty times. Will your dog need a potty break in the middle of the night? 2) Is your dog crate trained? If not, where do they typically sleep? 3) Does your pet take any medications, have food allergies, or have any other special needs? 4) Who is your vet? Who is the emergency contact that will take your pets if something happens to you? Please ensure your pets have the Bordetella vaccine or booster, we ask that they're not coughing, gagging, or have heavy discharge from their nose or eyes and that their waste/poop is normal, also please make sure they're clear of any parasites. If we see any flu-like symptoms or parasites we will make a video and upload a video of the problem for your records and we will quarantine and/or bathe them to ensure our other guests stay healthy. An additional charge of $100 per night will be added to the stay if your pup(s) is having flu-like symptoms or has visible worms in their poop after being dropped off. If fleas are on your pet, there will be a fee of $30 for small $40 for medium, and $60 for large dogs per bath. Please bring enough food for their stay. If they run out of food we can feed them but a $3 fee per pet per day will be added.

A typical day

We keep our dogs entertained by using enrichment toys like snuffle mats, kongs, and puzzles. I also practice their dog training to exhaust some of their mental energy. Our neighborhood is nearby the park so we can walk and see many people and sniff lots of smells. When it rains I collect tree branches because Gutsy loves sticks and I believe each stick has a different smell and interest. All throughout the week, I garden and anytime I am outside the dogs come with me. When the pups are lucky they get to bark at birds and possibly chase a bunny. Gutsy also seems to enjoy sniffing the flowers and trying to catch butterflies and other bugs. We take the dogs on daily walks and in the winter we dress the pups in their coats and booties before going out. When it is very cold outside, we still fit in lots of exercise by playing tug-of-war and fetch inside. If I am house sitting for you, I will work from your home. I will follow the schedule that you keep with your dog plus some extra cuddles and games of fetch or whatever your dog enjoys. I will be staying at your home full time except for possible doctor's visits or dog walks/drop-in visits that I have scheduled with other clients. I will happily collect your mail, water your plants, and even take your garbage to the street on garbage day if needed.

My partner works from home and I am home studying for a licensing exam so we will have plenty of time to play and cuddle with your pets. Since we only take pets from one household at a time, we are able to keep your pets on the same schedule that you have at home which reduces stress for your dog/cat. We do regularly take Gutsy on mile-long walks so if your pup is not used to that much exercise please let me know so we don't overdo it with them.
