Pet care experience
My name is Katelyn and I have been in the pet industry professionally for going on 7 years. I have cared for dogs, cats, fish, and a few exotics over the years as personal pets from 6 years of age and on. I will be studying at Austin Community College spring of 2016 as a pre-veterinary student. Pets are my life, and I plan to change the paradigm when it comes to practicing medicine and care as a future DVM. I conduct my canine nanny services in the outskirts of Copperas Cove, in rural Bell County, also known as the Realm of Paws household, where pets are part of the family and are not locked in crates or kennel runs while they are under my care. We live outside city limits, so there is no risk of animal control knocking on our door trying to take both our personal or guest pets due to pet limits!! I have cared for the hyper overly-excited puppies, to the calm, "just pet me for a minute" senior dogs. I take every guest in, always learning new things from their personal needs, as well as gaining more understanding of certain breed characteristics. Our home is dog proof, puppy proof, and one room in the house is solely THEIRS (if they want privacy...haha). Have a couch potato? They're more than welcome on furniture. Have a dog who needs more playmates? Our personal pack welcomes new friends, and you'll see them in person at the required meet-and-greet before your pup is allowed to stay. My care doesn't stop there--I offer full grooming packages including rough coated terrier hand stripping services available as add-ons while boarding overnight. If you have a dog that needs nail trimming, I also offer these services separate from the household and will travel to YOU! Give my nanny services a chance--you won't be disappointed! Why I love dog sitting: I have owned pets my whole life. If I didn't own one, I was loving on one at a friend's or family member's home. I shadowed a grooming shop when I was younger, which started my interest in the professional pet care industry. I worked in both grooming shops, as well as a part boarding/grooming facility, before moving into Texas and realizing a home-based boarding business was in high demand due to bad experiences with local kennels and boarding facilities. About my yard: Our backyard is currently chain-link fencing, spanning nearly an acre. There are numerous trees for shade--oh, and for marking territory on--as well as a wood deck shaded by a Myrtle tree. My experience administering medication: Oral medication as well as ointments/drops I am familiar with administering. I do not charge extra for these services!

I prefer to know any and all "quirks" your dog has. I have to be SURE your dog responds well to a "pack" setting, as we have four dogs and a foster who reside here full time. Well-socialized dogs are a MUST in our household! I am able to separate the household (and this has been done before), but deep down feel it is unfair to both your dog(s) and mine that they cannot roam wherever they wish at any given moment. We don't discriminate large or bully breeds! Two of our favorite guests are young pit bulls--they are total sweethearts who love to play and cuddle here.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks: Our street is one big circle. Being as the community is smaller out here, there is less traffic flow. There are a few streets north of us that are also quiet, where we can take long stretches of walks/jogs without fear of being hit by traffic. I do not charge additional for these services when overnight boarding in the household. Your dog's sleeping arrangement: That depends on the owners and dog's preferences. We have a room for dogs only, which is carpeted and has crates of difference sizes, where they can sleep with the door open, or with their door closed. Some guests end up in the master bedroom with us, which is not a problem at all (unless they are a bed hog...then it'll be battle-of-the-sheets), while others like sleeping on the couches in the living room at night. Wherever Fido goes, I cater. Time I'll spend with your dog: Twenty-four HOURS! Unless there is a doctors appointment (which will be discussed beforehand) your dog is MY priority. No locking up in rooms, cages, kennels, for hours on end...this is THEIR time, THEIR vacation, in which YOU are paying for!
