Hi, my name is Katelyn! I’m a huge animal LOVER who recently moved to the South Hill from Seattle!! I grew up surrounded by pets of my own, and always helped look after friends'/family's pets as well. My love of caring for animals (and being a dog mom myself) has made me want to pursue being a Rover care taker! Your furbabies will enjoy a happy, safe, and healthy stay with me! I love leading a healthy lifestyle and daily exercise is very important to me- you can count on me to take your pup on energizing walks! Does your dog live a more quiet lifestyle? That's fine too! I will be sure to pamper your baby and make their time with me as relaxing as can be- dogs need vacations too!! Animals are always there for us, and I want to be sure to return the favor. I can assure you that I will treat your loved-ones like they were my own, not only because I’m an animal lover, but because it’s how I would want my best friend treated while I was away. I am very communicative and will be sure to keep you in the loop with lots of picture/video updates or whatever you'd like! I'm here to make this the most enjoyable, and stress-free experience for your pup AND you. I just can’t imagine my life not being surrounded by furry friends so, I can’t wait to meet you and your pet family! Schedule: I work from home so your pup will never be left alone for any amount of time. My furbaby, Mika, is here to provide playtime 24/7. I have plenty of breaks throughout the days I have to work to provide potty breaks, exercise, extra playtime, and give all of the love and spoiling! I only commit to caring for pets when I know I can give them all the attention they deserve. <3 Safety, trust & environment: ***For any care I provide in my home OR your home: I require us to agree upon and make an emergency plan should an emergency ever arise while I am caring for your pet. I know it's the worst thing to think about, and I hope we'll never have to use it, but I always want to be fully prepared. I also ask that you please have your pet's care instructions clearly listed in their profile for me to follow and a minimum of one emergency contact who is not traveling with you.*** My top priority when providing care for any animal is their safety and well-being. I promise to go above and beyond to make sure they are safe and well-taken care of. I care for every animal with the same high-standards that I set for myself with my own furbaby. Leashes, collars and harnesses: I will NEVER take your dog outside unleashed, even if you say it is okay to do so. Dogs sometimes act very different when mom and/or dad aren't around. I live by, "it's better to be safe than sorry". ***I require ALL dog clients to have a properly fitting collar with up to date ID tags.*** A properly fitting collar should be snug, but not too tight (you can slide your index and middle finger easily under the collar and between the neck, but it is still snug). ***I also require any dog I care for to have a properly fitting harness or gentle leader for walks.*** Using only a collar for walks can lead to back and/or neck injuries like tracheal collapse, even if your pup is teeny-tiny. Using a dog harness instead of a dog collar makes it easier to control and manage any dog, even those with good leash manners. A harness disperses pressure over a larger area of their body, reducing strain on their neck and back, and discourages pulling which makes walks more enjoyable for ALL of us. (To make sure your pet’s harness fits properly: stick two fingers [index and middle fingers] under the harness while it is on your dog. You want to be able to fit those two fingers under the harness and have it be snug. Signs that your harness is not fitting properly include chafing, hair loss, your dog wiggling out of it, the back piece rotating to the sides, or your dog just refusing to walk in it.) In my home: I have one small rescue-dog, Mika, to keep your pup company when providing care in my home. I also have a spare, medium sized crate to crate your dog if needed and/or wanted (30-in L x 21-in W x 24-in H). ***I require and ask for proof that your furbaby is up to date on all of their core vaccines and is on some form of flea/tick prevention.*** ***Please, also confirm that you understand and agree to the of Rover Terms of Service and the Rover Guarantee.
