Pet care experience
I've been around cats and dogs my whole life and love spending my free time with animals. Over the past 5 years, word has spread amongst friends and friends of friends that I'm good with animals, as well as being very reliable and responsible. How I interact with animals depends on their needs and ranges from walks, playing inside/outside, hikes, dog park, or lots of snuggles and pets. I can accommodate feeding schedules as needed and am able to give pets oral medication as well. In case of emergency, I'm also happy to take pets to the vet.

The only downside to traveling is leaving your beloved pet. We felt confident in Kate as soon as we met her. She is kind and caring and we knew she would take good care of our cat Basil. She sent us updates and photos and we could see he was happy and well. When we came home, he was the most relaxed we have ever seen him after being in someone else’s care. We did not get the cold shoulder this time. Kate stayed in our home for almost three weeks and when we returned Basil and the house were perfect, even the plants looked better than when we left! Kate is one of a kind, we hope she will be available next time we go away, she would be a tough act to follow.
Kate was amazing with our anxious dog Stella, who felt very comfortable as soon as she met Kate. We received lots of updates throughout the house-sitting session. Would highly recommend!
We left the country for a week and hired Kate for the first time without knowing her. But I knew on meeting that both Kenzi (dog) and I felt she was right. Kate had an amazing rapport with my Ozzie Border from the get-go. Kenzi sensed a dog person she could show her ball games to right away. I can’t stress how great their rapport was. Kate went over the top in activities taking Kenzi to her swimming place and hiking in Gatineau. Kenzi is very active and very social and I wanted someone who would be able to provide that - Kate was perfect! The house was perfect when we came back and she also did garbage duty and watering. It was great to feel so comfortable and trusting being away, that Kenzi (and independent cat Chelsea) were well taken care of.
I cannot say enough good things about Kate. She took great care of my older kitties and home. I came home to happy girls and a clean house. She was responsible, communicated throughout her stay. She was flexible when my flight was delayed and I needed to move my trip to a day later. I highly recommend her. Thank you Kate!

It's important for helping to understand rules, norms, and commands the animals have, get familiar with where everything is, and start to build a relationship of open communication and expectations.
Information Kate S. would like to know about your pet
It's important for me to know their commands and things they are allowed and not allowed to do. Additionally I find it really helpful to know the quirks of each animal. Examples include: escape artist, no balls in the house, chases cats, ball obsessed, feeding instructions, etc. I can handle any quirk or behavioral issue an animal has, as long as I know about it ahead of time.
A typical day
I love taking long walks with dogs and exploring the neighborhood that I'm staying in. Often the dogs will lead me on their favorite walks! If they like to go to the dog park or play ball I'm also happy to do that with them.

Availability
I'm currently a full time graduate student and work part-time, so my schedule during the week varies. I have some mornings free and some days completely off. I'm generally around home in the evenings. On the weekend I spend lots of time with animals that I'm caring for, making sure to match whatever their needs are.
