Happy Tails!

Pet care experience

Over the years I have lived, loved, and worked with dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and various personalities. Typically, I only walk 2 dogs per household at a time but am willing to meet/discuss more for a family. Some pups just need a light walk and some time to sniff around while others need some serious walk time or a play session to chase and fetch their favorite toy. When it comes to cats, I know that they all are a little different and I work around that. Some are playful and some would rather be left to judge you from afar. I'm used to chatty cats and hiders. Every family member needs love and some of them demand it from pets and others simply want their food, water, and treats (and box scoops!). For drop-ins: I can stay and play or simply make sure their general needs are met and go depending on your comfort level. I could clean up a small area or take the trash out in a home where your pet does not need/want extra interaction but would find comfort in someone just being there. If you want some music or a TV with a timer on in the background when I leave, let me know, some animals seem more comforted with a little background noise so they feel like someone is home. You may notice I'm not in all of example photos because I'd rather you see your fur family member in action or relaxing rather than posed. Please let me know if any particular treats are needed or are off limits and about any specific feeding schedules. For first time visits / walks: If possible, I like to do most of the time at the house so your pup can become comfortable with me, before we go on walks or visit any parks/trails. Of course, that's all up to you as the parent. If we have a longer Meet & Greet beforehand that works too-- just so they aren't scared of a new person taking them out and about.

Kate is an awesome dog sitter. She went above and beyond to make sure our dog was well taken care off. Sent us daily phones and kept us updated on what she did with the dog. Would recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter. We would definitely hire her again. Keep up the great work.

I like to keep cats and dogs as comfortable as possible, so knowing how you would get them ready for a walk or what order you feed, play, give treats is important. Knowing the command words that work for them is important too— not all pups use the same lingo.

Information Kate O. would like to know about your pet

DOGS: I like to know if there is anything specific that your dog loves and anything not obvious that would make them uncomfortable so we can avoid it. We will get to know each other, but if anything stands out about your dog, I'd love to know it before our time together begins so I can make sure they are as comfortable as possible from the start. How are they on walks? Are they timid or perhaps a puller, maybe a "shy about potty on walks" type... it may sound silly, but it really helps. Also, can they be around other dogs. If you would prefer them to not be with another dog, that's completely fine; I just want to know your preference and how they interact with others if co-mingling is okay'd or how they react to other dogs while simply walking by. CATS: Similar to dogs, I would like to know what they like and what to avoid for their comfort. Generally, a Meet & Greet is a good way to at least get them used to a new person who will be in their space, but if I know their patterns it helps us both. Are they a "come to me" or "wait for me to come to you" kind of kitty? Do they have certain hiding spots they like? Is there a toy they leave around the house that the human is expected to put back in a feline retrieval spot?

A typical day

If we're walking, we'll start small around the neighborhood, so they aren't too far home with a new person they are getting used to and go from there depending on you and your dog's comfort.
