Pet care experience
I grew up with cats, mice, rats, but finally got my own dog after graduating from TAMU Vet School when I was 25 years old. For the next 20 years, I had 4 dogs total: German Shepherd, 2 mutts from Walmart parking lot and a Yellow Lab. My beloved cat G.C. tolerated the dogs. After 7 years of practicing veterinary medicine in the 1980's, I left to begin teaching Human Anatomy & Physiology at San Antonio College. Just retired from teaching in summer of 2016. Currently, I'm working part-time for my day job. I miss having pets. But now I have grand babes that have pets nearby. With dogs and cats and kids, life is a picnic! I'm loving all the new pets I'm meeting and caring for ;-)

Kate came out to pet-sit at our farm where we have a lot of fur babies with kind of a complicated feeding regimen. Not only was she willing to travel to the farm, but Kate did two meet and greets to be sure she completely understood the protocols and took excellent care of all the animals. We have a high energy lab and she played fetch and walked him. She sent me updates with lots of pictures of a worn out dog! She is an obvious animal lover who I trusted 100%.

Kate has glowing reviews in my neighborhood, and I can see why! Our dogs got sick right before our weeklong vacation and I felt completely at ease leaving our dogs under Kate's attention and care. She consistently sent us pictures and updates which helped us relax while we were away. It was evident that she took her time to go above and beyond in caring for our pets, house, and plants. We highly recommend!

Of course, I want to know all about my dog before sitting. What does the dog like to do? I need to know about meals, meds, and any special needs they might have. I hope you will leave me good contact info for your vet, and any neighbors or family members that might be available for questions if I can't reach the parents. I have a lot of favorite breeds, but love my mystery breed rescues just as much ;-)
A typical day
I love walking, and walk alone where it's safe to do so but I much prefer walking with friends, especially dogs. I usually take my bigger dogs for long walks in the neighborhood where they live, at least 30 minutes to an hour, preferably more than once per day. I like to play catch and tug, too. Outside is my favorite place to be. After dark I love cuddling on the couch with my furry friends and a good book, laptop, or tv. FYI, I consider north San Antonio all the way to Austin as my service territory for house-sitting, the Hill Country included.
