Dog boarding and day care in a family home.

Pet care experience

My husband and I love dogs first and foremost and have had a number of dogs over the years. We currently have a 5 year old labrador called Fraser. We started helping family and friends out with their dogs and enjoyed this so much we decided we wanted to offer other families somewhere for their dog to stay whilst they were at work or on holiday. One of the motivators for this was that when looking for someone to look after our dog when we went away, we were totally shocked at the amount of very poor quality dog boarding options. Your dog will become part of the family for the time they are here. We will only ever take one booking at a time. We always offer meet and greet sessions before hand so we can all be 100 percent happy with the request. We are aiming to have a number of regular families we work with in the hope that we will always have availability for your holidays / commitments so your dog doesn't have to keep getting used to new families. We have a secure fenced in garden and our dog loves to have new friends come to stay. We spend our days walking in the fields or on the beach. We have experience with older dogs and puppies. We would also be happy to care for small animals such as hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Our dog, Nigel, had a fantastic stay with Katie and family. From start to finish we and Nigel couldn’t have asked for anything better. Nigel was welcomed as a true family member and it was clear that he really enjoyed his stay. This really is a 5 star experience for any dog and we cannot recommend it highly enough!

Bonnie stayed with Kate and her family for a day and everybody was excellent with her. Bonnie can be a little nervous around new dogs, and Kate and her husband were excellent in letting Bonnie meet their retriever and another labrador staying before the day, then during the day gave Bonnie time to settle in and slowly start to spend time with the other dogs. Got updates during the day and I think Bonnie had a great time with lots of cuddles!

Kate very kindly agreed to look after our two boys with just over a weeks’ notice. We did meet up a few days prior to the stay to make sure our two Labradors were happy with Fraser - not that there were any concerns but a nice touch to agree to meeting up. Kate and her family have done a fab job, plenty of updates and photos. Including a photo of Fraser cuddling into Bailey! Super cute! I think my two labs would have happily stayed longer and were a little disappointed that I picked them up and took them home away from Fraser :) Would definitely book with Kate again and would highly recommend.

Information Kate M. would like to know about your pet

We will always arrange a meet and greet before your dog comes to stay with us so you can see where they will be staying and can be confident that your dog will be happy with us and with our own dog. We will always ask what their usual routine is and ensure that is followed while they are with us. We will ask whether you are comfortable with them being let off their lead in an open field or whether you prefer to keep them on the lead. We will ask about vaccination history and ensure we have their vet details in case of emergencies. Most importantly we will ask you what their favourite toy is.

A typical day

We like to go for at least three walks a day with one longer one and two shorter walks. These tend to be along the wagonways which have plenty of room to run around. Then spend the remainder of the day enjoying the sunshine in the garden or sleeping. We are happy to keep your dog on a lead if you'd prefer or if their recall is not very good.

Availability

I work three days a week mostly from home and my husband works from home the end of the week so there is always someone here for the dogs. We will always walk the dogs first thing in the morning, lunchtime and then after dinner. We have three older children who love to spend time playing with any dogs we have.
