Pet care experience
Over the years, I have lived with and cared for a variety of pets which include rodents, insects, reptiles, fish, birds, chickens, sheep, horses as well as cats and dogs. I am very good at following instructions and will always ask for clarification if unsure about any procedure. I am particularly good with rescues and those who have suffered trauma, have anxiety or special needs. I am very comfortable with giving medications and eldercare. I do enjoy hiking and much prefer to have a dog as a companion.

Kate has watched our pups and home 3times, and we have her booked again in the coming weeks. We have 2 dogs, 65-70 lbs each. One is a senior dog who has some limited mobility and the other dog an energetic adult that doesn’t get along with most other dogs. Both dogs have medication regimens. Ours dogs LOVE Kate. They are both all wags and yips when they see her arrive, anticipating the belly rubs that are sure to come next. Kate has been a wonderful care taker and really seems in tune with the dogs should any changes or needs arise. Upon our returns, the dogs have always been happy and calm. All medications and feedings given on time, great communication via text while we were gone, and the house was always neat and ready for our arrival.
Kate has been a good friend for 23 years since we met when our oldest children were in a toddler kiddy music program together. She has been a responsible and caring owner of German Shephard dogs over the years. The two dogs I had the pleasure of getting to know were healthy and well taken care of...perfectly behaved, happy, well-loved dogs. Kate has also dog-sitted Lila, a yellow lab, for another friend recently, while house sitting at my home in Anchorage. Kate excels at both duties of dog sitting and housesitting. I would highly recommend Kate as a responsible and loving pet caregiver and also a trustworthy house sitter.

My preference is for extended stays in your home and currently do not offer boarding. I have been house/pet sitting steadily for over a year and have numerous solid references because I love and treat your home and animals as if they were my own. I have experience in the garden and am capable of overseeing home projects as needed. You can be assured that you will come home to a clean and happy household.

I very much appreciate knowing everything you can tell me about your animal's needs, routines, quirks, cues, and behavior issues. I would particularly like to know about any aggressive tendencies and social issues. I am quite willing to accept animals with these issues, but everything works so much better when I know upfront what to expect.
A typical day
I always like to follow the routine of the household and animals, but I do work in the morning and then have the rest of the day free to be with your animals and hike or whatever is required. I am familiar with all of the hiking trails in Anchorage, Eagle River, and Girdwood, having lived in all of these areas, and will likely be visiting those in your area frequently. My personal favorite places are those with water in the summer, particularly lakes. In the winter, I like to frequent bogs or streams that have iced over...places you can't easily access in the summer. I do like to explore and head off trail.

Availability
I currently work in the mornings during the week from 8:00-11:00 and am available most afternoons for a hike. My weekends are generally available with some family commitments interspersed. If I am caring for a well socialized dog, then they are often accompanying me on most of my errands and activities. If not, then I make adjustments to my schedule to meet and accommodate their requirements and needs.
