Pet care experience
Ours is the perfect retreat for a dog who does better with a quiet and soothing boarding space than a noisy and busy one. The best way to describe our home is as calm, cozy, and full of affection. Think curled up with a warm blanket and a good book while it’s rainy outside. My husband, Chris, and I have a 4 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who we love to pieces. She's a sweet, gentle, 17lb cuddler who can usually be found napping on the closest available lap. Long before Addie, both Chris and I have lived with lots of amazing dogs thanks to friends and family members we've lived with over the years. And I mean LOTS of dogs. Big, small, shy, outgoing, athletes, couch weights, young puppies, senior dogs, well behaved and not-so-well behaved... we've fed, walked, cleaned up after, and loved on tons of them. Your pet will have the run of our (safe) townhouse. No crates or off-limits furniture. We've been doing River for year and it's been a wonderful experience!

Kate and Christopher were awesome! My tiny 4 month old puppy loved them! He can be a handful sometimes but they handled him so well! We got lots of update pics and he is doing great! 10/10 would go to them again!
We were in town for a wedding and found Kate and Christopher to take care of our puppy for the day. I’m glad they had suggested doing a video call beforehand so we can see their place and that made us very comfortable. Upon talking to them, we realized they were so warm and eager to take care of Hunter that we felt so at ease with them! On the day they took care of him, we got constant updates about Hunter and loved seeing his pictures by the harbor, he explored Baltimore more than we did! I knew he had a fantastic time because when we came back to pick him up, it didn’t seem like he wanted to go. 😂 whenever we’re in town again and need a place for our fur baby to hang out, this will be the place for him. ❤️

Our safe, loving home is an especially great fit for a dog who needs a soothing, quiet atmosphere without kids, cats, or large dogs. Addie was a dog mom to 2 litters and is great with puppies. Senior dogs are also very content here. Dogs who enjoy calm will have a nice little haven with us. On the other hand, a dog in need of all-day hikes or a yard wouldn't be completely happy here; it's not that we wouldn't love to welcome athletic dogs into our home (we would!), it's just that we want dogs to love being here as much as we love having them here. We'd rather lose the “business” than see dogs boarding in anything less than the perfect place for them. Also, since our Addie is so sweet and meek, we couldn't host any dogs with dominant personalities.

Availability
Every day during the week, either Chris or I work from home, so your dog will have their Fun Aunt or Fun Uncle with them 24/7. On the weekends we're both home, so your dog will be doubly spoiled. I like to cook, bake, read, and sew, while my husband loves to eat and get underfoot in the kitchen. We have two wonderful nurses, Joey and Emily, who rent a floor from us. Although they're rarely home, they both love dogs and your dog will get extra pets whenever Joey and Emily go through the common area. (Kitchen and shared entrance). Our Cavalier, Addie, is very calm and gentle. Her gentleness means that she's never up for rough-and-tumble play, though, so our home wouldn't be a suitable vacation spot for a dog that wants to be physical and actively engaged with another dog. When Addie meets a new dog, she just does the basic, introductory sniff and then turns back to her humans.
