Kate is one of those persons who just seems so "simpatico" with animals, dogs in particular, but also horses and cats. She grew up being around and tending to a menagerie of dogs, horses and cats. She gets pure joy out of interacting with different animals, and working with their different personalities. My wife & I joke that she seems to cast a spell over them. For instance, our own Bichon Frise, "Gigi," which Kate watches from time to time, is much more responsive to Kate than to either of us. In addition to being a good caretaker, she is able to address situations where medical attention may be needed and determine the correct action…whether to get to vet or treat with a known procedure.
