Eclectic animal lover!

Pet care experience

I have a lifetime of experience around animals on a large family farm specializing in horses and bison. I have three personal dogs and three wonderful late dogs who spent their hospice/end of life in my care. With a history of rehabilitating and training both dogs and livestock my experience in behavioral challenges with multiple species keeps me calm and with a good handle on any situation. I am an avid hiker and love to take dogs out to see new places but I'm just as content to provide companionship and care for pets who would prefer to live a more low-key lifestyle. My personal hobbies are: soap and candle making, writing, backpacking, hiking, horse riding, gardening, classic cars, painting and the occasional Netflix binge. Since I've had to take a pause in rehabilitating animals I've opened myself back up to caring for other people's animals and lending a hand to fill the void that has left me with. I genuinely look forward to meeting you and your animals for care or training.

Kat did a great job and everyone seemed calm and relaxed when we returned. She took the dog out frequently and let her play in the unusual snow. Our scaredy-cat that usually stays hidden came out to meet her fairly early on, impressive. We will definitely have Kat take care of our pets again!

Kat was a godsend! On very short notice, she agreed to a pretty long stay over the holidays with our four cats, four hens, and many rabbits raised for show. She came over promptly to get oriented, and communicated well and appropriately throughout our absence. She noticed a problem developing with one baby rabbit’s eye and she took care of it with minimal instruction. We also have a borderline-diabetic cat whose eating schedule needs close monitoring and she did very well with that responsibility. It is obvious that she is very comfortable with and intuitive about animals. We are so fortunate to have connected with Kat and we will definitely ask her again the next time we leave town.

Kat is definitely one of the most knowledgeable and attentive people I know, especially when animals are involved. She has a very diverse and in depth knowledge of all kinds of animals. From Horses, goats, and chickens, all the way to dogs, cats, and reptiles. She is prompt and dependable, and always provides above and beyond care for any animal in her charge. If you're looking for someone who cares about the well being of your pet, who will always make sure your pet is happy, and healthy, Kat is the best choice. She is always my go to if I need a hand with my pet.

Information Kat C. would like to know about your pet

I don't have any breed preferences but I would love to meet your pet in their home setting before visiting them alone or taking them out alone. I have sat and walked for dogs without meeting them in their own home (we met at a park prior) and it's manageable but I want your pets to feel comfortable with me in their space. Do they like other dogs? Are there activities we should avoid? Allergies?

A typical day

Hiking, or maybe your dog just loves to go for a ride? I like both! Dog friendly dog? I have three of my own to play with and another dog I sit who is great with other dogs. Not so social? That's okay, it can just be a solo adventure. Worried about leaving your dog without anyone to check on them or give them their meds? I'm your girl. I am no stranger to oral, sublingual and ocular medications as well as special medical care our furry friends may need.
