I have 2 years experience as a dog washer and short-term boarder at a professional company. Informally, I have about 5 years of experience sitting for family, friends, and occasionally professionally. My mother has always loved dogs and from the age of 3 I have been surrounded by them. She currently has two Tibetan mastiff/Akita mixes that I watch every few weeks when she’s away so I’m very experienced with larger dogs. Also I will take dozens of pictures of your pet, I just can’t help it! I am a writer that works almost entirely from home, so my schedule is very flexible day to day. My apartment has very stringent rules on dog breeds that I’m allowed to have personally, but short term boarding is allowed and I use it as an excuse to have all kinds of furry friends around while I’m stuck at home writing. It’s nice to take a break, take a walk and get out of the house. I don’t leave any animals alone for extended periods of time. Anything past an hour, I consider a failure of my duties as a professional sitter. I always treat a clients home with respect. I personally have had house/pet sitters that have treated my house like their own personal vacation beach bungalow and was very frustrated with those experiences.
