Dog-lover missing her childhood pup
Pet care experience
I work from home and enjoy walking the neighborhood streets and nearby trails on my breaks; I’d love to stop by your house to say hi to your furry loved one or have them join me! SERVICE AREA: I’m local to the Regent Square/Wilkinsburg/Edgewood area (think Frick Park Clay Courts/Biddle’s Escape/CC Mellor Library). Rover only allows you to make your radius a mile at the smallest, but I’d prefer to keep my walks and drop-ins to the area indicated here. I’ve yet to meet a dog I couldn’t love! I house/dogsat for a family with four dogs (the smallest being a terrier and the biggest being a shepherd mix) while they vacationed in Hawaii; walked and did simple training for a 1 year-old german shepherd for a summer in college; stayed with two bird-dogs and their shitzu older sister (and their parrot and cockatoo friends!!) for two weeks; and am no stranger to caring for a mischievous escape-artist or a pup who loves a good sneaky romp in a mud puddle. WALKS: I can offer a quick-paced (perhaps even a light jog!) trail or neighborhood walk or a leisurely sniff walk (dogs love and can be tired out by both)! I don’t need your dog to be the most well-trained, but if all they do on a lead is pull me along (and you have no plans for training), we likely won’t be a good fit. I may stop to pick up other pups to join our walk along the way, so if your dog can’t handle walks with friends, please indicate that in your request. DROP-INS: I have a low rate for drop-ins because I do not plan to stay with your pet for 30 minutes. I’ll stay for as long as it takes for a potty break (not a walk), a meal or treat; any pet-related tidying up, a good belly-rub, ear scratch, and then I’ll be on my way! If you’d like more than that, please indicate that in your request; I will adjust my rate accordingly. DOG-SITTING: I am not currently offering to stay in your home while you’re away, but I can offer multiple/60-minute walks or drop-ins a day if your dog is the kind that does well home alone but needs some company every so often. Depending on the circumstances, I may be able to bring my work to your home for an afternoon, but that would only be offered on a case-by-case basis and the rate would reflect the time you’d need.
Reviews
We booked Karlie as a dog sitter for a 12-day vacation out of the country, the longest we have ever left our pets. She stayed in our home and took amazing care of everything - the house was immaculate when we returned and the dogs (and birds) were happy, healthy, and in great spirits. While we were gone, she sent a pic or two everyday to let us know how everyone was doing. The daily updates were fantastic - we could see that everything was going well and this let us relax and enjoy time with our family. Karlie was professional, responsible and kind and caring with our pets. I am so glad we were able to find her through this site.
Karlie was great. She handled doing Bella's insulin like a pro. Very kind and friendly. I would definitely book her again.
Karlie was a fantastic find! She stayed back to back weekends for us, and everything worked out so smoothly. She was able to meet with us beforehand, to get to meet Lucy, and then again to see the house. She made sure Lucy was comfortable, and well loved both weekends. We would happy to have her back!
Karlie is wonderful with pets! She is trustworthy and responsible. She took such good care of my pup for me. She is someone I completely trust to care for my dog as much as I do. Communication with Karlie was quick and easy. I highly recommend Karlie!

Information Karlie H. would like to know about your pet
Does your dog need to be the only one on a walk? Are there any commands your dog already knows well and is there anything they’re still learning? Any big stressors or fears? I want to offer the most fun and safe experience for both me and your favorite four-legged friend, so any information unique to your pet is helpful for me to know!
A typical day
My activities are tailored to your dog - we can go running around the neighborhood or on a trail (I find a dog can be a great workout motivation!), play a quick game of fetch in your backyard, take a slow-paced stroll through the neighborhood, or even work in some brain-teasing training games. I know each dog has personality and preferences all their own, and I look forward to discovering activities that work for them!
