A loving family home-away-from-home
Pet care experience
Rover Fees: 20% of your Rover Fee covers Rover services and insurance. I love to build a relationship with your pupper, so your pupper becomes part of our family! Dogs get lots of playtime in the large backyard, they can explore the chicken coop, for dog walking, we have 3 and 5 mile loops, and/or training walks which include leash training and general manners. For dogs who are high energy and social, I can also provide outings to the local dog park - Cabin John - during their stay. I have always loved dogs! I trained sled dogs in Alaska, rescued Greyhounds, I've worked with many special needs dogs, with emotional and behavioral challenges, and seniors. I've fostered and placed many dogs into wonderful homes. I currently foster for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue. My training philosophy: I believe training is most effective when it's built on "relationship". My goal is for a dog to behave in a desired way because s/he wants to, to please the person they love and respect. I believe dogs are not robots, they are feeling, thinking, curious, sometimes mischievous :) wonderful beings. I train with consistency, repetition, clear expectations, lots of affection. I set high expectations - I believe every dog can be a fantastic dog! I spend a lot of time watching each dog, getting to know them, testing approaches to see which are most effective for each dog based on their personality, preferences, and sensitivities. My focus is building the human-dog bond based on love and respect, so I will spend time talking with you about what would improve your relationship with your dog, working with you to learn tricks and techniques to move closer to that goal, and providing support and encouragement. I believe that every dog is unique, so I am flexible and adjust based on the needs of each dog. I would love to meet you and your dog, to see if we would be a good fit!
Reviews
Karin always takes exceptional care of our pup, including being vigilant about her food allergies, and medication administration. She’s so gentle and kind, too - GREAT SITTER!!
Our dog loved his stay with Karin! He’s a large dog (over 100 lbs) and can have trouble settling in new locations. Although he seemed to feel right at home with Karin. She gave us regular updates and was very accommodating and flexible with us. Would gladly have him stay again.
So grateful to have found Karin!
My pup Daphne had an amazing time staying with Karin! Karin’s communication was excellent, and she sent us photos of our relaxed, happy girl who was clearly enjoying herself. We were able to have a great trip knowing that our pup was in good hands. We would absolutely book a repeat stay with Karin.

I prefer to meet a dog and owner before sitting, to make sure it's a good fit, and to give you an opportunity to meet me and see our home. If it's short notice, we may be able to sort it out with emails.
