I just want to hang out with your dog

Pet care experience

I’m an experienced in-your-home pet and house-sitter (day and night) which I enjoy and love to do at the same time! Read on to find out more about me and see if I’m a good match for you! I’ve been lucky to have pets to love and care for all my life and having a pet is something I really miss (I cannot have a pet of my own due to my home tenancy being “no pets”). After taking early retirement I am not ready to slow down and this means I have lots of time and love to give! I find the love and affection from pets so rewarding and this is why in the absence of my own I decided to become a pet-sitter - starting out with sitting for friends and family and expanding from there. My pets have been dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters - and not forgetting two very vocal budgies and lots of tropical fish! Two of my beloved dogs were rescues and the breeds/cross-breeds have been from Corgis to German Shepherds, Labradors and mixed breeds. I do have in my life a delightful - and cheeky - Mini Dachshund “grand-pup”! I’ve cared for dogs of various other breeds and many animals with different needs - young, old, small, large, cross-breed, rescue, pedigree and those with medical conditions and special and / or senior needs. I’ve also looked after many cats (indoor and outdoor) and other pets. I’d love you to check out my photo gallery of my own precious pets and those that I’ve cared for.

Karen is really great with our little dog and he loves her. She is excellent at looking after him the way that we look after him, making sure he sticks to his routine, gets the right food/treats/medicine as required, plays with him and keeps him entertained and, best of all from his point of view, provides plenty of cuddles and affection. Karen has always looked after our dog in our house, and we absolutely could not be happier with the way she looks after it like it was her own. Always clean and tidy, and takes care of everything while we are away. Absolutely recommend!

Karen has on a number of occasions taken care of my cat whilst I went on holiday and has done so with great care. She never hesitated when it came to changing her litter tray when needed and as she was an elderly cat with ailments, karen would monitor her health. With my cat being so frail it was difficult for me to leave her but Karen had my full trust and I always came home to a happy well cared for cat. I Would very highly recommend her.

We have struggled with finding a reliable and understanding person to look after our little dog. He adores Karen and she is absolutely brilliant with him. He's a pretty special little guy and has lots of special traits and needs and being a Dachshund he also needs handling with care to protect is back - Karen has listened to all his requirements and needs and we know that leaving him in her care is super safe and he's super comfortable. Karen has looked after our dog in our home - she is so respectful of our home and treats it with so much care, kindly watering our plants and ensuring everything is taken care of. Highly recommend!

I’m an in-your-home pet-sitter, I will travel to you and look after your pet in your home - and also look after your home at the same time. I can ensure that your dog gets lots of stimulation and movement within your home space and garden. I will never leave your dog alone in your home unless you specify that this is OK and normal for them. I know how hard it can be to trust someone with your beloved pet and know very well how special and very unique the needs of pets can be - I want to reassure you there is no silly request or need I won’t understand. With lots of house-sitting under my belt, I pride myself in how I treat other’s homes and precious things like their pets and home security. I am happy to spend time introducing myself and getting to know you and your pets and to travel to you. I am flexible to your needs and how you like communication to be - happy to follow all guidelines and requirements for your pets and home and to send you updates and photos as regularly as you’d like. Information Karen R. would like to know about your pet

The more you tell me about your pet(s) and their needs, the better experience it will be for everyone. So, routines, behavioural, dietary, medical and anxiety issues are really vital for me to know, as well as the things your pet loves to do or maybe their favourite toy. Their likes and dislikes and your house rules too are helpful.
