Your Furbaby’s Home Away from Home!

Pet care experience

Our Story My fiancé and I are avid dog lovers! We both had/have family dogs. I had a shy, black and white Shish-tzu named Jigger 🖤 . He lived 19 long, joyful years. When he passed, it was one of the hardest experiences of my life and I was afraid to feel that kind of grief again. When I first met my fiancé, he introduced me to his second dog - an energetic, adventurous, German Shepherd mix puppy named Blossom 🌸. His first dog was a cute Pomeranian named Bobo, who lived for 14 years. It was Blossom who reminded me of how amazing it felt to be a dog owner. Now that my fiancé and I have moved into our new home, we miss the companionship of Blossom (even though we still see her on a weekly basis). We are considering getting our own furbaby, but before we do, we are hoping to get an idea of what that reality might look like. Experience As I mentioned, we have experience with both small and large dogs (Blossom is now 60 lbs). Our friends, whom we see on a weekly and monthly basis are also dog owners to Golden Doodles and Labradoodles. They are all crate-trained, including Blossom. We understand the important balance of playfulness vs. training and discipline. New habits can easily be taught, both good and bad, and we are aware that this can be a concern for some owners. Every dog has its own quircks and characteristics and every owner has his/her/they own way of doing things. We are open to having that discussion to keep the same lifestyle consistent when your furbaby is with us!

FIVE. STARS. Karen and Kenneth were amazing with Reese. And the Rover Card that they left for me to look at was the most detailed review of Reese’s stay I’ve ever gotten with any sitter ever on Rover. They are super friendly with a cozy home, your pet is sure to be super comfortable. Karen was the person Reese seems to have spent most of his time with at the start of his stay and who I was mostly communicating with - she took loads of pictures and videos, detailed notes of Reese’s walks and feeds and general behaviours, amazing amazing amazing amazing. My little dude came home happier than ever, we’re super happy we chose to book with Karen and Kenneth - book them, they really just seem to love dogs and enjoy their company! My dog took to Karen the moment he met her and her energy was calming and encouraging, I wasn’t concerned about Reese’s stay at all (and this was the first time he’d stay in a condo - which is a brand new development in the city btw).

I highly recommend Karen & Kenneth as pet sitters! Their love, attentiveness, and responsibility with dogs are unparalleled. I trust them implicitly and wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to entrust my beloved pup to their care. They would go above and beyond, ensuring every furry friend feels cherished and safe.

Karen is a very nice and competent dog babysitter as she has babysat my dog more than once. She always puts the dogs needs first and is always willing to play with them. She is responsible and trustworthy.

Meet and Greet We encourage and would prefer a quick meet and greet with you and your dog before committing to ensure that we are the right fit and to ease the transition. Insurance/Vet Details Let us know your coverages and preferred vet/animal hospital so we can ensure your pupper is safe in the event of an emergency. Crate Training We understand that crates are intended to be a safe space for your dogs. Some may need to “put to bed” before accessing the crate and may require a call to release them from a crate. We can work with you to understand these tendencies. Puppy Diary We can keep a “puppy diary”, which is essentially a log that helps monitor their bathroom, drinking/eating habits. This is particularly useful when they are still learning bathroom habits. It helps us prevent an accident from happening! Meals/Treats We are mindful that some dogs may have allergies and/or dietary restrictions. Please let us know in advance. Let us know what tricks your dog knows so they can show us their moves for a treat! Walking Depending on how long your dog stays with us, we will aim to walk the dog at least 2-3 times a day. For larger, energetic dogs, it would be preferred that they have a gentle leader to make it easier to control.

Information Karen & Kenneth M. would like to know about your pet

We would appreciate it if we were made aware of the following: - Dietary restrictions, allergies - Triggers, things that upsets your dog (e.g. touching their food) - Potty trained or not - If they are on their period cycle - Any habits we should be made aware of (e.g. don’t leave food in easy to reach places, keep the toilet bowl closed)

A typical day

A new game we learned to play with Blossom is “Go Find It”. Essentially, we would tell Blossom to wait while we would go and hide a treat somewhere in the room. When she finds the treat, we reward her with another treat. This provides good mental stimulation and trains the dog to actively use their nose.
