Home Full-Time - Love Dogs

Pet care experience

Dogs are my greatest passion in life--and that’s no exaggeration. I’ve owned dogs for a very long time and appreciate their unique personalities and the joy they bring to any situation. I grew up with a little Chihuahua named Louie and helped raise many puppies over the years. I mean, is there anything cuter or cuddlier than puppies? Nurturing them into adulthood is such a rewarding experience, and being a caretaker of different kinds of animals from a young age taught me so many invaluable lessons about being a caring, trustworthy, and responsible individual. I’ve always had a lot of compassion for all living creatures and I believe we’re all integral to a balanced and healthy life. Being around our four-legged companions make me feel one with our natural environment, and I enjoy getting outdoors as much as possible. Although my family has had mostly small dogs, I’ve watched other pups of different breeds, sizes, and ages for friends and family, particularly Golden Doodles, Poodles, Shih Tzus, and Golden Retrievers. As much as I adore dogs, I currently do not have my own pet, but hope to someday soon. In the meantime, nothing would make me happier than be around dogs again, at whatever capacity. Dogs always brighten my day with their energy and unconditional love. I know how much time, money, and attention it takes to have a pet and keep them healthy and happy, and I recognize I’m not at a place to have my own right now. That being said, I’m perfectly equipped to dogsit for shorter stretches, and I would bring years of personal and professional experience. There was a period of time when I dog-sat professionally. Having another living creature under my care is not laughing matter. More often than not, people love the idea of having a dog, but once they realize how much dedication it takes to raise one, many choose to neglect or abuse their pet from simple apathy or inexperience. Because I love and respect them so much, I know it’s not quite the right time to be a dog parent, but I’d relish the chance to be a dog auntie. You have to be responsible for your own actions in order to help or care for others––human or animal. Being trustworthy is an important aspect in caring for others and/or their loved pets or property, and it's very important to me that I earn not only your trust, but that of your dog. My love for animals applies to all creatures––I don’t discriminate. I recently house-sat for friends and their two cats, and we really had a wonderful time. I know leaving your beloved pup with a perfect stranger can be stressful, but I hope to alleviate any doubts, and I hope you can rest assured s/he will be in very capable and loving hands. I look forward to getting to know your furry best friend!

This is the first time we have left Rosie since her real momma, Lola, passed away. Rosie had been struggling with separation anxiety and we were concerned that it was too soon to leave her. Karen was with Rose 24/7, she took her everywhere and loved her up like we do. No need to worry, Rosie did great! We highly recommend Karen to care for your family pets.

Our little Rosie is in love with Karen, she thinks Karen is her other mom. We were gone for 2 weeks and didn’t worry one bit that Rosie would have a difficult time missing us. Karen takes her everywhere, let’s her sleep with her, and loves her up, just like we do. Karen has become part of our family, and we can’t say enough nice things about her.

We are so lucky that we found Karen to watch our dog, Camden. We have now used Karen on multiple occasions. The first few times we used her, she stayed in our condo as our puppy was only a few months old. She was very attentive to all the details we provided about our dog's care and when we returned, we could tell Camden had been well taken care of! The next few times, we left Camden at Karen's condo. You can tell she gives special, personal attention to each dog she takes care of. Our dog was so excited walking up to her condo, because she loves staying with Karen so much. Karen has a special box of toys for all the dogs she watches, takes them on lots of walks, and spends as much time with them outside on her back deck. You can tell Karen treats each dog she watches as if it were her own. I can't recommend Karen enough if you are looking for a dog sitter!

Can I give ZERO STARS? Scatterbrained, unprofessional and worthless do not begin to describe this woman. First, we do a meet and greet and mention a long boarding stay in the near future. She has that time available she tells us. Then we book a trial run for our dog which goes well. We ask AGAIN about our dates for our trip. Sure, she says. We get a call the next day telling us she double booked during part of our stay and cannot watch our pup for 3 of the 8 days. Okkkkk..we scramble to find another sitter for those days and transportation for our dog to get to her when she is available. We book her...again. Two days later, a text..oh, she forgot, she has a dog for those days as well and has to cancel on us altogether. EIGHT DAYS BEFORE WE LEAVE FOR Europe!! Now we are left scrambling again and may have to put our dog in a kennel since it is last minute and cancel the other walker and still pay for it so we don't screw him over like she did to us. BEWARE of this flighty ditz (or perhaps liar and just did not want to watch our dog and did not know how to tell us) because her calendar is WIDE OPEN for the days we booked her. THE. WORST.

Information Karen C. would like to know about your pet

I think it’s important to meet dogs in their own environment and for me to get acquainted with their space and habits, not the other way around. After we meet, then we can visit my place to make sure they are comfortable and happy. Your dog’s well-being is my main priority and I’ll adapt my services to meet their needs. I’d want to know everything there is to know about your pup––their diet, habits, any level of aggressiveness, energy level, training, known commands, separation anxiety, barking, health issues, comfort with other dogs and animals in general, eating habits and preferences, and your furniture policy. I will keep their routine intact. Any and all insight will help me offer your dog the best care possible. I believe in and value open communication and transparency, so I will send you regular updates by phone (text, calls, videos, photos) to ease your mind. Whatever I can do to help alleviate any stress, please don’t hesitate to ask questions or request information from me!

A typical day

We will go for at least one long walk a day, in addition to regular outings. When it’s warm, we can relax on my deck or play fetch on the grass. If your dog enjoys getting brushed, I’d be happy to do it! I enjoy being outdoors, so we’ll surely visit the lake or nearby dog parks often. I love playing with our furry friends, especially throwing the frisbee and tennis balls. After some hearty exercise, nothing would make me happier than to cuddle up with your dog on the couch watching TV or reading a good book. I really miss the snuggles more than anything else.
