It is their vacation, too!
Pet care experience
I have been responsible for elderly, sick, young, pregnant, and epileptic dogs and cats. I have aided in weaning pups off mama dogs and guided them to adulthood. I am currently enrolled in basic life support classes for cats and dogs. I am familiar with medical needs and routine schedules for medications and exercise.
Reviews
My two dogs were so worn out after picking them up, I know they had a blast with Kara. She was very accommodating with our pickup/drop off times, and very kind! My two dogs can be a handful, so I know it was a lot of work. She sent us pictures throughout the day which we loved. Thank you Kara!
Took great care of our girl and was great to send photos and check in!
As Kara’s husband, I can vouch that Kara is a good-hearted pet owner. She has a lifetime of experience caring for cats, dogs, and smaller animals. Kara and I have consulted with Discovery Dog Training to ensure we communicate with our own dogs in ways that they understand.
Kara would make a good candidate for any activity involving pets. She has spent her whole life around a variety of pets from fish and hamsters to Saint Bernard dogs and alley cats. She is always focused on their needs and is eager to interact with them on many levels. It would be a mistake to not give her a try.

Safety, trust & environment
For the dog, there is a half acre fenced yard. I have the necessary tools and experience to handle all types of guests and situations. I prefer a free roam environment for my guests. I pay close attention to ensure that the guests are only housed with other guests that are compatible. I have set up a room for cats. You can view photo gallery for more details.

Information Kara W. would like to know about your pet
Experience has taught me that pets act differently when their pack/family is not around. They will test boundaries. I would like to know any special needs; medication, low exertion, dietary restrictions, and triggers (some animals dislike someone touching their head or back as an example).
A typical day
It depends on the pet. I will walk, hike, play fetch or another toy game. I like to engage them in different activities from their normal routine. I still adhere to the routine; I just like to mix it up. Usually, first thing is a potty break. Then, breakfast and a long walk. Then, it varies: playing, story time, meeting other guests, group hikes...
