Pet care experience

I’ve taken care of all sorts of animals, for 15+ years. I grew up on a farm, working on farms, and tending to animals. I do basic training with my dogs, and eventually want to get into the protection dog training world. I am an outdoor enthusiast and have the ability to connect with animals on an intuitive level. I see them as individuals with unique needs and wants.

Kara was wonderful with our dog on a recent long weekend. Highly recommend! Cocoa was treated like one of the family and seemed to enjoy her time there.

Kara was great. She kept me updated and was really helpful in the process to pick up and drop off.

Our puppy, Jack, had a great time with Kara and Tank! Kara was easy to coordinate with and understanding. I felt like he was in great hands!

Kara and her family took great care of my Juno. He was quite and reserved when I dropped him off and loud and proud when I picked him up. Communication was great and she sent just enough pics.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced in yard and a dog to keep yours company. If you’re booking overnights I can provide a crate if that is what they are used too, otherwise the general rule in my house is animals are allowed on furniture, beds, and any surface they like aside from my kitchen counter, which I try to keep paws off of. I have a giant water jug, food and treats, and all the cuddles your animals wants. I provide daily pictures for overnight stays, and pictures for drop in clients as well. If your animals have any special instructions, I ask that they be provided in writing or text so I make sure to follow them correctly. I am comfortable giving subcutaneous insulin injections for cats and dogs, and any other medication they may need. Important: For any clients over 10 miles from my home, I will add an additional $5 per visit to the standard rate (excluding holidays.) For those over 15 miles, I will add an extra $10 per visit (for the holidays it will be reduced to $5.) I will remind you of this charge at booking.

Information Kara T. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know if your dog has any special diet restrictions, medications, what training commands they follow, if they are up to date on their rabies vaccine, and if they have a bite record. (A bite record does not exclude your dog, please be up front with me about it. If I am bitten and need medical attention, this is for your dogs health and safety that I am told the correct information.)

A typical day

I love to stimulate dogs with their favorite games, treats, and toys. Playing tug, fetch, sniffing the neighborhood for new smells, playing in the park and going on hikes in Loch Raven reservoir. I utilize positive reinforcement training techniques, using chicken nuggets and lots of love.
