Hi fellow feline loving friends! My name is August (they/them) 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 and welcome to my cat sitting page. I am honored you would consider me to care for one of the most important members of your family. Please read below to learn more about me and the services I offer! About Me: I am originally from the Inland Empire and currently live in Los Angeles. I am a proud parent of two 14 year old kitties that are my world! Karley is my cuddly, sweet tortoiseshell calico with kidney disease and asthma (she takes daily oral medication and an inhaler). Blake is my talkative, playful tuxedo kitty who loves to perch on my lap (she is doing so as I write this)! I have been cat sitting since 2015 and have been a full-time cat sitter for over 3 years now. My earliest memory that I can recall is meeting a stray cat for the first time that jumped the fence into our backyard, and ever since then I’ve had an unwavering love for cats. My childhood dream was to be able to work with cats, and for the early part of my adult life I pursued becoming a veterinarian. To prepare for veterinary school, I gained as much experience working with cats and other animals as I could. I worked as a veterinary assistant in an emergency animal hospital and I was the lead caretaker for an animal rescue in the neonatal kitten program. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Biology and attended a semester of veterinary school before realizing that my high level of intuition and empathy were not best suited for the veterinary field. Being immersed in high-stress environments and continually witnessing animal pain took a toll on me. I realized that my experience, knowledge, and skillset were of best use working with animals in their comfortable home environments. After leaving vet school, I rediscovered my love for cat sitting and decided to pursue it full-time. I found the perfect balance of utilizing my medical knowledge and skill sets, while still contributing to the best quality care to the cats I love so much. My experience puts me at an advantage to be able to easily recognize and address medical concerns, and provide care to just about any kitty with special needs. Here are some examples of past cat clients I have worked with, and I am highly comfortable caring for: High-anxiety cats that require behavior awareness and medication. Diabetic kitties that need insulin injections and blood glucose monitoring. Asthmatic cats needing daily inhaler medication. Cats with kidney disease that require subcutaneous fluid injections and oral medications. Sphynx, Persian, and Bengal kitties who need breed specific care and considerations. Senior cats who have mobility challenges and need extra medical support. Kittens and high-energy cats who need extra playtime and exercise. Semi-feral or very shy cats that need extra patience and time to get comfortable. Of course, if you have a healthy low-maintenance kitty I am very happy to care for them as well! If your cat has any special needs, please make sure to mention those when submitting a booking request. Depending on the nature of your cat’s needs, I may require 60 minute visits to ensure enough time and attention are spent giving proper care to your kitties. Why Choose Me: Being a cat parent myself who is anxious about leaving my cats in the care of someone else, I know what it is like to worry. I have made the mistake of asking friends to care for my cats and have come home to disarray and disappointment at the level of care they have received. I strive to be the cat sitter that I would want for me and my cats. I know just how important it is to ensure they're well taken care of for peace-of-mind while on vacation. The best part of my job is getting to know each of my kitty clients and developing a bond with them, while knowing I am also allowing my human clients the ability to relax and enjoy their time away from home stress-free. I know consistent communication and photos go a long way! I take lots of cute photos (Rover only requires one photo, but don’t worry, I take a lot more!) and send a text when I arrive and a summary when I depart. No additional charges for multiple cats! What is Included Each Visit: Food Routine: Any grub your kitty needs. Kibble, wet food, raw, water mixed in, topped with morsels. Whatever they need they get it! Fresh Water: No stale water bowls while I’m around. I refresh the water bowls or fountain once a day to keep any debris from accumulating and to keep the water fresh and appetizing to keep them hydrated. Litter Duty: I’m familiar with all kinds of litter types and box styles, including automatic litter robots. The boxes are scooped once a day to keep the bathroom clean and nice to go in for the kitties. I also sweep/vacuum any scatter to keep things tidy. Play/Love: After the essentials are complete, I spend some quality time with the kitties! I do whatever I can to channel loving energy to your kitty, and let them know they are being cared for. Whether that be pets, brushing, lap cuddles, playtime, treats, sweet talk, or simply just being present with them so they feel comfortable and secure. Of course, I work within the limitations of what the kitty prefers - they are the boss, after all! Photos and Consistent Communication: I will text you to let you know when I arrive and depart, along with a summary of each visit with some photos of our time together. If I am running late/early for any reason, I will always keep you in the loop. Have any questions or any extra info to share? I’m just a text away! Medications and any other extras: I administer any meds or supplements your kitty needs. I can also bring in mail, packages, and do light plant care if requested. Cleanliness and Safety: The safety and happiness of your cat is my top priority at all times. I am familiar with “door dashers” and am mindful when opening doors to ensure kitties stay inside and safe. I always will treat your home with the utmost of respect, and leave it just as clean, or cleaner than the start of the reservation. I do my part to make sure doors are locked, alarms are set, and windows are secure to make sure the kitties are safe and no unwanted guests can access the home. During the Meet and Greet: Shortly after you send in a booking request, I will be contacting you to schedule a Meet and Greet! Once we schedule a time that works for you, I will come to your home so we can get acquainted. This usually only takes 15-30 minutes but it is important so I can get an overview of the care routine, and also give the kitties the opportunity to associate me with a happy memory before your trip. That way I am a familiar friend when I stop by for the reservation and not a stranger! This is also a good time to exchange keys or access information for the home.
