Pet care experience
The wellbeing and care of animals has been a lifelong passion for me. I am a certified veterinary assistant, providing me with knowledge of emergency vet med, in addition to knowledge and experience in administering oral and injected medications. Over the past few years, I have worked with animals in various capacities, fostered kittens, rescued and reunited lost dogs, and have constantly worked to progress my knowledge and skills. Most recently, I worked at a locally owned holistic pet food store where I learned extensively about nutrition, different food formats, supplements, etc. which has been incredibly helpful with becoming comfortable with both simple and complex diets and feeding routines. Prior to that, I worked at a large doggy daycare where I was the lead yard attendant, main dog groomer, and trained dogs of all ages. This job also provided me with in depth education and experience with various training tools and techniques, as well as immersive experience in studying animal behavior and psychology.

Kalista was absolutely fantastic with our cat, who needed liquid oral medication administered twice daily. We have only had this cat in our lives for a few months and this was his first cat sitting experience. We were really nervous about someone else being able to administer the meds, but Kalista was able to gain our cat’s trust and make it happen. She spent quality time with him and soon he was purring and being sweet with her which we weren’t sure would happen. She was very communicative and we felt confident for our entire two week trip. We will absolutely ask Kalista to come back — the peace of mind was so incredibly appreciated. She’s so good at this!
This is my 2nd time working with Kalista. She is very kind, professional and helpful. I feel very comfortable and safe to leave Mao and my home in her hand. Overall she did an incredible job. Highly recommended.

Your pet's safety and security is my main priority. I always make sure all doors and gates are properly locked and secured, per your instructions. If you wish, I'm also comfortable with kenneling your dog when they are unattended. When walking with a client's dog, I like to avoid interactions with unknown animals and humans. That being said, at your discretion, I will happily bring my own dog for a play date or walk if they would like more social interaction or guidance.

I do ask for knowledge of pre-existing health conditions, including things like allergies, diabetes, nervousness, etc. so that I can better suit your dog or cat’s specific needs during our time together. PUPPIES: My puppy rates include promoting their current level of training and encouraging learning advancement through fun engagement, walks, and games, as well as following your preferred training method. This helps because, as not the primary care giver, the puppy is learning to truly associate words and signals with actions and events, not just the person saying them. I encourage you to share information with me about what your pup is working on or needs help with, and I can relay any helpful insight I have or notice.
A typical day
Depending on the animals health, I am happy to jog with them for small segments. I will happily take pups to the park or an enclosed area where we can play fetch, however I prefer to walk in close proximity to the animals home. PUPPIES: My puppy rates include promoting their current level of training and encouraging learning advancement through fun engagement, walks, and games, as well as following your preferred training method. This helps because, as not the primary care giver, the puppy is learning to truly associate words and signals with actions and events, not just the person saying them. I encourage you to share information with me about what your pup is working on or needs help with, and I can relay any helpful insight I have or notice.
