Experienced and Caring Petsitter

Pet care experience

I have 10 years of experience with petsitting and dog walking, and as a lifelong pet owner, I understand the need for compassionate and experienced care when you need to leave your pets at home. I have experience with all ages and sizes of dogs, and am comfortable working with reactive and fearful animals as a former Fear Free Certified veterinary assistant. I have basic CPR training and have cared for pets with various medical concerns, senior pets, nursing cats, and kittens and puppies. I also have experience in livestock care and farmsitting, and with caring for small caged pets! I'm happy to discuss care for other types of pets if needed. As a sitter, I am very attentive to your pets and quick to communicate with you about any concerns that arise. Please be sure to have your vet's info filled out before our booking in case of emergencies!

Kali spent a week plus at my house hanging out and caring for my sweet old puppy. My dog was very happy and relaxed when I returned home. Kali sent me pictures all week of walks and adventures that they were having. My house was in great shape and I would never have known anyone spent the week there. Kali was responsive and very reliable. I would not hesitate to have her care for your fur babies.

Kali asked great questions at the meet and greet, communicated well, and connected quickly with both our dogs (one of which is fearful of new people). Kali did a great job following our requests for our dogs and they seemed happy with her visit. Kali has a friendly, easy going demeanor that we appreciated.

I always do my best to replicate the routine you have for your pets so they remain happy and as stress free as possible while you're away! If your pet has a complex schedule, written instructions are always appreciated to have a reference. I am very attentive to your pet's behavior and health, and will always communicate with you if they seem to be feeling unwell or acting unusual. In the case of medical emergencies, I am able to bring your pet to the nearest emergency vet if needed. With house sitting, I will not book other clients for drop ins or walks for those dates, so your pet is the only one I am caring for. * Note for very fearful pets - If your pet is extremely fearful during a drop in, I may end the visit early if they do seem to be too distressed by my presence. I am very happy to work with reactive and fearful pets and experienced with utilizing Fear Free methods for interacting with reactive animals, but never want to push an animal past their threshold of tolerance, as it may create more stress to them to continue interacting or being in their space. For housesitting stays with dogs that are reactive towards people, a meet & greet at your home is required before housesitting. This is to make sure your dog has the time to meet me and get comfortable before an extended time without you, which can be stressful for a dog with a new sitter. I'm happy to initially meet outside your home, but meeting at least once at your home is to ensure your dog is okay with me in their space. Trying a walk or drop in before housesitting may also be beneficial if your dog struggles with strangers, but isn't required.

Information Kali S. would like to know about your pet

ROUTINE: How many walks/minutes of exercise does your pet need? What times do they eat? Please let me know any important routines you have. Many clients like to leave written instructions which are always helpful! MEDICAL: Please let me know if your pet has any current or past medical concerns to be on the lookout for or that requires medication or other special care. If your pet requires medications or other medical care, a meet & greet at your home is best to ensure I know where all their supplies are! BEHAVIOR: Any quirks about your pet that are helpful to know! Don't feel embarrassed about oversharing or mentioning "little" things like picky eating habits or even a favorite toy. Please disclose if your pet is reactive - I will not turn down a booking due to disclosing this! This is important to know so we can determine the best way to meet and ensure your dog is comfortable with me before a stay. VACCINES: All cats and dogs must be up to date on their rabies vaccine if older than 6 months, and have applicable core vaccines. Please be prepared to show proof of vaccination before our first booking begins. This requirement is to protect both your pet and myself in the case of a bite incident, and to protect the pets of both you and other clients from unknowingly carrying disease between homes.

A typical day

Our activities will depend on your pets' needs and current routine! For more active pets, I can provide long walks or lots of fetch, and for more mellow animals, plenty of belly rubs and attention. I love using puzzle feeders and other enrichment toys when available! For housesitting, I will arrive in the evening around 5-6 PM, and we'll go for a walk or play outside, have dinner, and settle in for the night or do a little more indoor play before bed. If your pets like to sleep in bed with you, I'm more than happy to sleep with them at night! In the morning, I'll give breakfast and a quick walk or ball toss before departing for the day. Activities and actual routines can of course be adjusted to meet your pets' needs.

HOUSE SITTING: Please note that housesitting is an overnight stay only, and I do not currently offer constant care. Each night books covers dinner time, an overnight stay, and breakfast. For multiple night stays, I will be out of the house during the day to work and care for my own cats, but will come right back to your pets after the workday is done! Depending on your pet's needs and activity level, morning/evening/night walks can fit into this schedule. For bookings with dogs, I can provide a morning and evening walk (or playtime in a fenced yard), or approx 60 minutes of exercise daily. Please let me know if your dog has significantly higher exercise needs! For cats, daily litter scooping and play time is included. DROP INS/WALKS: Drop ins and walks are 30 minutes or 60 minutes, and can involve feeding, brushing, playtime, giving medicines, cleaning litterboxes, etc! For walks, the time booked covers arrival to departure, so if your dog may need extra time with leashing or with any after-walk care, a longer booking time might be best. For drop ins with cats, I recommend twice daily drop ins if cats will be left alone for a few days. Some cats in past bookings have refused to eat between visits until I arrived for the first day or two, and twice daily visits seem to help with those who might be lonely or anxious while you're away. I will scoop the litterboxes 1-2 times a day, feed and give clean water, and play with or pet your cats as much as they like!
