Pet care experience
I recently moved here from New Brunswick, where I have had several pet and home sitting clients for many years. I have extended experience with cats and dogs, but have also cared for fish, rats, hamsters, ducks, rabbits, and even chickens! I have some experience living with and training puppies, and if provided with an overview of your training approach and/or commands, I will happily reinforce what you have been working on. I also specifically have experience caring for hairless cats. I look forward to meeting you and your pets, and creating lasting and dependable working relationships!

Kaleigh has taken care of both my dogs for all their lives. She is my most trusted dog sitter when I travel and we were so sad she moved to Halifax. I always know the dogs are in the best, most careful and caring hands when Kaleigh is with them. They adore her. And she sends pictures!
My Aussie Arlo has been obsessed with Kaleigh from the moment he met her. She obviously understands herding breeds really well, she talks to Arlo gently but firmly, and respects my personal boundaries on things like not letting him off the leash because he can't be trusted to recall. Some things I noticed about her that set her apart (as a herding dog owner): - She lets Arlo sniff. He always comes back exhausted from walks with her because she lets him mentally engage and understands you can't tire him out with walking alone. - She can tell from a distance when a dog isn't going to get along with Arlo and engages him off to the side really well. - She handles him exactly the way he likes. She's really good at reading what he's asking for. She's also good at asking him for what she needs, like space when she gets in the house. I'm a bit neurotic about my dog, since he's my first and I waited so long for him. As a dog owner, working with Kaleigh is such a relief because I know she's going to provide Arlo with a highly engaging adventure and she genuinely enjoys the time she spends with him. 10/10 recommend her.

Most animals appreciate my calm and quiet demeanor, and my willingness to play and cuddle with them. I am happy to send you regular photo updates of your pet. I also have experience administering pills, ear drops, and puffers should your pets require those. I have a car which I am able to use to transport your pets if needed (whether it be for fun or in the case of an emergency), and I am very familiar with Shubie Park and Cole Harbour Heritage Park. Unfortunately, I am not currently able to offer care in my own home, because I live with a cat who is highly stressed out by other animals.
Information Kaleigh S. would like to know about your pet
Important for me to know: Your pet's schedule and habits - How much food they get how often, any medications/allergies, when they usually exercise or go out, morning/bedtime routines, etc. We don't want this experience to be too disruptive for them! Behavioral issues - ex: reactivity to other animals, fear of bicycles, dislike of car rides, etc. Training/commands - I want to use the commands or signals that you use with your dog so I can communicate with them effectively! Vet contact. And mostly importantly, their favourite things :)
A typical day
I like to take dogs on long walks where they can get some good sniffing in, and play with them in enclosed areas (if possible) where they can really run (if they need it). I like to play fetch and tug. Drilling tricks can be fun too, for the right pet! And then once everyone is worn out I'm always up for a good snuggle. I will play with cats too, especially if they have a favourite toy!

Availability
I am always free from early morning until 1pm, which gives me good availability for dog walking or bathroom breaks while you're at work! Additionally, I am entirely free on Sundays and Mondays. I work Tuesday-Thursday afternoons, and Thursday-Saturday evenings. My shifts are generally short, so your pet would never be going 8 hours alone or without using the bathroom.
