Veterinary Student Dog Walker/Sitter!
Pet care experience
I am a veterinary student with a Bachelors Degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. I have experience as a veterinary nurse (3 years) where I worked in general practice as well as a specialty Internal Medicine and Oncology practice! 🩺 Due to my experience, I am able to administer oral and injectable medication as well as care for animals with special needs (i.e. diabetes, recovering surgical patients, etc.). I am also Fear Free Certified, meaning I am trained in positive reinforcement techniques and handling. I use praise, treats, and high reward treats during your pets stay. I treat your pets like family and I use my knowledge from clinical and personal pet experience to make them as comfortable as possible while you’re away! During the summer months (May-September), I exclusively do dog boarding/walking! I love having your pup in my home as I’m able to spend all day and night with them. It’s the greatest job in the world! During the Academic Year (Mid-September-May), my availability is a bit more variable as I am currently a veterinary student. I am able to better accommodate pups that are able to be left alone for a few hours a day, but I typically reserve these bookings for regulars as I have a better idea how the pup will do while I’m away. I am always open for a trial booking for new friends in need of a place to stay (owners will be given my most up-to-date schedule if this is the case) 🐾 I live in a 2 bedroom house (ground floor access) that is best suited to medium and small dogs. I love doing meet & greets prior to bookings and you are encouraged to come up and meet me, see my home, and meet my Maine Coon cats upon drop off! Cats are able to be kept separate by doors in the house if necessary, but dogs that are not great with cats (or have never met cats) are encouraged to come for a meet & greet prior to their stay. I have a fenced in front and rear garden, but pets are never allowed out of the house without my supervision.
Reviews
Petra has stayed with Kaitlyn a number of occasions now with no issues. She obviously loves animals and shows great care and affection. Could not be happier, and will definitely use again.
Kaitlyn was just a fantastic find. She is a lovely person who clearly loves the animals she cares for. My boy has seldom been from us in his 12 years and has a lot of health problems but he settled with Kaitlyn immediately and enjoyed his snuggles and cuddles. I felt very reassured he was in excellent hands. Would absolutely recommend.
Scout had a great stay with Kaitlyn who sent us lots of great pictures of him enjoying his walks and looking very content and happy. Excellent communication throughout I would thoroughly recommend Kaitlyn as a dog sitter.
The best dog sitter! I was so worried about leaving Pickles for the first time but from start to finish Kaitlyn went above and beyond. She took the time to understand Pickles’ routine and ask about things that could be done to help make her feel more comfortable. I was away for a family wedding and another member of the wedding part had a very last minute emergency with his dog sitter and Kaitlyn completely saved the day by taking care of his dog as well. I received regular updates, photos and videos which was so reassuring. Kaitlyn has such a wealth of knowledge when it comes to animals and this combined with her calm and caring nature means she would be the only person I could think of leaving my Pickles with. I cannot thank her enough 💕🐶

I live in a 2 bedroom house with a fenced in front and rear garden! Although the gardens are secure, pups are not allowed outside without my supervision. If you have trackers/AirTags, I encourage you to provide them as an extra layer of security, but this isn’t a requirement! My eyes are always on your pups!!

Information Kaitlyn P. would like to know about your pet
To be the best care taker, I like to be prepared! One of my biggest concerns is your dog’s behavior: are they fear aggressive? Dog aggressive? Have any triggers I should know about? Do you allow them to be pet by strangers while on walks/are they fearful of children? I want to make sure your dog feels comfortable, happy, and safe at all times! I also would like to know if they have any special needs (arthritis, require meds, allergies, etc). If you would like your dog to visit the dog park on their walk, I’d also like to know if they are fully vaccinated/up to date on deworming treatments! Part of my business includes social media exposure. When booking with me, please express if you do NOT want your pet shown on social media! Otherwise, images and videos of your pet will be shared with assumed owner permission ?
A typical day
I enjoy scenic walks away from main roads such as the Anniesland Canal, Knightswood Park, Dawsholm Park, and Victoria Park. With owner permission I love to let dogs off leash and play fetch to work out all their energy! I love to find ways to engage dogs with treats (training/high value) and toys to reinforce good leash manners and recall! I have a passion for dog training and previous clients are always surprised by how well their dogs do off leash with me! For dogs I don’t know, I use a recall training lead until we are confident in recall skills ☺️

Availability
I am a veterinary student, so my schedule is varied! During the academic year, I can typically only guarantee longer stays for dogs that are okay being left alone for a few hours a day while I’m in lecture. They will of course get walks before or after! During the summer, I tend to have a bit more of an idea as to when I’m completely free for my furry friends who may have separation anxiety or other medical/behavioral requirements!
