Growing up my family always had pets, dogs, cats, birds etc. I've always loved animals, wanting to the "the keeper of the animals" when I was a child. Six years ago my husband and I adopted our first dog and I was finally able to experience full-on dog ownership. We got our dog Grady when she was 8 weeks old so I am very familiar with the puppy stage. Grady ended up being a bit leash reactive so we had her (and us) go through some training and it was the best thing we could have done. She will always be a whiner when she sees other dogs but I now have the confidence walking her and knowing how to keep her in control and in the heel position. Having a leash reactive dog has helped me learn a lot about dogs personalities and how important it is to keep them stimulated. Now, my favorite part of the day is taking my dog on a nice long walk.
