Pet care experience
I have lots of experience with all kinds of dogs (and cats), including ones with fear aggression, medical needs, and separation anxiety. My dog, who only lives with me half time, is familiar with hosting other dogs. If you want your dog to be the only pup in my space, I can probably arrange to not have my dog for your dog’s visit. I do have a cat, and he doesn’t mind dogs at all, but am happy to keep him in another room if necessary.

Kai is a wonderful dog/house and general animal sitter. Kai has taken care of my dog, cats, chickens and house for extended stays in Oregon. I highly recommend Kai as an animal sitter, and an all-around excellent human being.
Kai was great! My chihuahua mix Chompers had a wonderful time playing with Puck and she sent me texts and photos of to keep my updated on his vacation. I would definitely use her again.
Kai and her dog, Puck, were wonderful with Clarence. I was having problems getting responses trying to line up a host for the weekend, and Kai responded quickly and met me for a meet-and-greet with Puck. Clarence had a great weekend -- Kai also was caring for a 6-month-old corgi pup, so she must have had her hands full! Will definitely use her again!
Kai is wonderful - she was in touch with me the whole time, offering updates, anecdotes, and even pictures of my little fur child's adventure away from home. She was flexible with me with times to drop her off and pick her up, and that is always really appreciated. Will definitely continue to use her in the future.

In my home I prioritize the needs of the pets. They are welcome to choose one of the couches or my bed to rest on, and I keep a basket of toys and an open area on the rug for playing (literally this is the reason I don’t have a coffee table). I live surrounded by the Marquam Nature Park, so walks generally involve exploring different trails in the forest. I also frequently garden in my friends’ huge fenced backyard, so if your dog needs to roam free for a while, this can be arranged!

I would want to know what helps the pup feel safe, what behavior challenges they are working through, and how they do with new pets and new people. I of course would also want to know the care routine.
A typical day
We love to avail ourselves of the many trails in our area for short hikes, or on a hot day go down to Sellwood Park’s beach to cool off. Another favorite is going to my friends’ big backyard to garden and enjoy the breeze.
