Dog loving couple near activities!

Pet care experience

Hello! We (Justine and Jason) are a dog-loving couple, who, between us, have at least 10 years of pet-sitting experience. We have cared for many different types of dogs, and are comfortable with any kind of situation. We share our home with Wallace, our 3-year-old chocolate lab, and Addie, our 6-month old labradoodle. All of us (well, sometimes Wallace...he's a full-time couch potato) love getting outdoors, and enjoy hiking, going on walks, heading out to the dog park, or hanging out in our great community. We love taking Wallace and Addie out and about with us, and are lucky we have Wallace to show Addie what it's like to be a good dog out in the world. We love dogs of all shapes and sizes, and are able and willing to accommodate any dog in our home. Our home is fairly small, but we have a big couch (!) and a nice yard. Jason and I both work, but our schedules are flexible, and I work only about 10 minutes away from the house. All of us are excited to connect with you and your pet, and provide a home away from home for them while you're away!

Justine and Jason did a great job taking care of our very young boxer that was being separated from her family for the first time. Roxie was eager to play when she arrived and excited to see us when she came home. We received several pictures of Roxie during her stay that were very reassuring. All in all this was a good stay and we will be returning to Justine when we travel in the future.

Justine and Jason are the best! This is our third time using them to care for Churchill. They are very attentive to Churchill's needs and it is very evident that Churchill loves staying with them. We highly recommend Justine and Jason for your dog boarding!

Justine provided a great place for Rosie - she was very attentive, easy to communicate with, and flexible. Rosie came home tired out from time with her dogs. A great experience all around!

My dog, A.J., appears to have had a wonderful time with Justine and Jason. In fact, I suspect that he might actually prefer their house to ours. Justine and Jason were very friendly, and were agreeable when it came to drop-off and pickup times. They invited A.J. over to check out the place and meet their two dogs before his stay, and provided email updates while we were gone. He came home happy, healthy and a little tired. Their house is a little hard to find -- Google Maps sent me to the right neighborhood, but the wrong address. Once you find the street, just look for the address number and don't listen to your GPS. It's not a big place, but I don't think A.J. cared. I will definitely plan to leave A.J. with Justine and Jason on the future!

Information Justine W. would like to know about your pet

All types of dogs are welcome in our home! There are a few things I would like to know about your dog before they stay with us. Of course, the first thing would be how your dog's general behavior, and especially behaves or acts around other dogs, as we do have our Wallace! Any information about unique doggy quirks (they all have them!) would be much appreciated. Jason and I both have experience working with senior dogs who need special care/medications, so any medical instructions about those types of things are very welcome. We would also LOVE to know what your dog's "dream vacation" would be! Do they like going on long walks or hikes? Taking a field trip to the dog park? Taking a stroll around the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville and stopping for a treat? Checking out Grounds at UVA? Or maybe just hanging out on the couch watching Netflix :) Our goal is to make sure your dog has a great experience with us, so please let us know anything and everything that would help us make their time us with safe, comfortable, and fun!

A typical day

Our goal is to make your dog feel like a member of our family. I do work Monday-Friday on a typical (9-4) schedule, but luckily Jason's schedule is much more flexible, so he is around during the day until about noon. The most time your dog will probably be alone at our home would be about 4 hours. We usually walk Wallace and Addie in the evenings around our neighborhood for at least 20 mins, or sometimes one of us will go running with Wallace as well. We like to change up walks during the weekdays with going to the dog park or driving to another location to walk around, just for a change of scenery! On the weekends, we like to go for longer walks or hikes around the area. We also take Wallace and Addie with us sometimes if we want to go out to lunch or dinner...we're lucky that Charlottesville is a very dog friendly place! We're always open to trying new things, so if your dog likes to do anything different or fun, please let us know! When we're winding down for the night, your dog is welcome on the couch or the bed. However, if your dog has their own bed or a crate, we can accommodate them in that way as well. Really, we just want your dog to have a great time with us, so anything we can do to make their stay excellent, we will!
