I rescued my first dog, Brisa (a 14 year old spaniel mix girl) at 8 years old. It was different owning and taking care of something living and older than me but it gave me important lessons at a young age. I now have 2 dogs I’ve raised since puppies and I love them as my own children, most of my family and friends (and often neighbors) have me take care of their pets while they are sick or gone.
