Pet care experience
I am retired and am out walking several hours each day and could walk with a dog as long as they would like. I regularly walk in the Uptown lake areas, but would welcome the opportunity to walk in other areas of the city. I cherish time with my own pets (rescue cats Pongo and Olive) and the residents of Metro Pet Animal Hospital. Dr. Kristin Harris, who owns Metro Pet, and her staff would always be available for any urgent issue. Because I love walking and I love dogs, I believe this is a wonderful situation for both the dogs and for me. I have 2 rescue cats, so a dog would not work in my home, but I am also a dog lover, so walking with dogs through Rover seemed like a great fit. Cats would find me a wonderful visitor when their pet parents are away. My own cats are wonderfully content and they know they are deeply loved. My best friend in childhood was my beloved Collie-mix, Cinder. I have enjoyed dogs in my friend's homes since childhood and I have walked with Phoebe, a wonderful Lab, who was in the art gallery connected to my home each day while her owner, Sally, the Gallery Director, was working. When Fergus. a little brother, came into her home, Phoebe needed to stay at home with him. I miss her. I am looking for a situation that would introduce me to dog buddies that would walk with me on my daily walks. I visit Metro Pet hospital every week on one of my walks to visit with the cats and dogs who are there. I have visited with dog walkers at Metro Pet and feel dog walking would be a good fit for me and for the dogs. I regularly watch Cesar Milan's "Leader of the Pack" and feel I can apply his lessons when dogs are walking with me. His teachings were very helpful in my relationship with Phoebe. I also have several dog buddies and their pet parents that I visit with when walking around Lake Harriet. I would very much appreciate having dog buddies to walk with me. Given my close relationship with Cinder during childhood, I find I easily connect with dogs and cats and am always pleased to find they are readily comfortable to me.

I would want to know if they have any health conditions, if they can have treats and how they like to play, if they like dog parks, if they can wade in the lakes and when and what they should eat. No preferences regarding breeds. Dr. Kristin Harris is a wonderful friend and owns Metro Pet Animal Hospital at 2603 Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis. Dr. Harris and her staff will always be on call to help in an emergency or we would take a cab to the University of Minnesota Emergency Veterinary Clinic.
A typical day
I walk around the Uptown lake areas daily and there is a wonderful dog park in Loring (but I would appreciate walking in other parts of the city). I walk in all weather conditions, so would need to know if the dog has preferences. I walked Phoebe (a beloved lab) for the art Gallery Director conected to my home. Phoebe loved to have me throw a tennis ball over a raised metal structure, so she could catch it on the other end and bring it back to me. Phoebe needs to be at her home now with a new dog named Fergus, so I am not walking Phoebe any more. There is also a busy dog park near Lake of the Isles. Sometimes there are aggressive dogs in the parks, so pet parents need to know I am aware of these and avoid the parks when aggressive pets are in attendance.
