I have loved and cared for dogs my whole life. I dog sit regularly and have a 13 year old rat terrier, Abby, who loves the company. I trained her with Dog Whisperer principles. She's great with other dogs and adjusts to their temperament and activity level, though she might initially be quite excited to meet them. I will monitor their interaction until they get used to each other, and keep her from being overly excited if your dog is not welcoming the attention! ;) I take smaller dogs up to ~25 lbs. I live in a small apartment and larger dogs may feel more cramped. I also have trouble walking dogs who aren't well-behaved on a leash, due to shoulder problems. I may take medium sized dogs if they don't pull on the leash. I work from home during much of the day. In the late afternoon and evenings, I tutor high school students math and science, so I'm in and out. When gone, I can let the dogs roam the house, put them in separate rooms, or use a kennel, depending on what the dog is used to. Because my tutoring times are often scheduled at the last minute, afternoon and evening drop off and pick up times need to be flexible (esp Sun-Thu). DAY CARE: I don't take day care on Sundays during the school year. Mon-Thu I can do early drop offs, and pick up will usually need to be before ~2p or after ~9:30p, but this varies as my schedule changes. When I am out, Abby will be there to keep your dog company, should you opt for the later pickup time! :) I prefer to take one dog at a time, but occasionally will take two, especially if a day care and overnight overlap. I can usually ease new dogs into getting along with each other, but I can keep them separated if needed. I live on the second floor, so dogs should be able to climb stairs, or be small enough and willing to let me carry them up and down. To potty, I take the dogs outside (3-5x day) and we walk up and down the sidewalk out front where there is plenty of grass and shade. I take the dogs for a daily walk (if they are up to it) in my very dog friendly neighborhood. I work well with older dogs and special needs dogs who need a bit of extra attention to make sure they eat their food and get their medicines. For dogs with anxiety issues, I think it's best for them to have a regular sitter -- over the course of several sittings, I've helped dogs go from extreme anxiety to acting like my place is their second home. I also take dogs for extended stay if an owner needs to be away for weeks or months at a time. I also work on leash training dogs who need a bit of instruction to heel on walks (as long as they don't pull too hard). I don't work well with vicious dogs who snap and bite at people. I can work with nervous dogs who growl at other dogs but who are controllable on a leash and okay with my own dog. I like to be available for people when last minute trips come up, and I charge a "last-minute" fee of $5 per day in addition to the regular cost.
