Juls - Canine Reincarnated Soul

Pet care experience

I love animals, insects, birds, and living creatures in general. I have pictures and memories of my 5 yr. old self napping with my 1st poodle, Benji on our kitchen floor. I've been bitten by large, overly protective stranger dogs and still don't flinch. I have a nine year old Yorkie who is my best friend, and I get more excited to see my family's 4 dogs than my family members themselves. Those dogs include a 14 yr. old poodle, a 9 yr. old Chihuahua, a 2 yr. old rescued Doberman, and a 4 yr. old rescued Terrier/Pug mix.) I've been personally asked by two previous employers to watch over and care for their dogs while they were away on vacations (Maltese and Jack Russell Terrier). I am very attentive, gentle, and firm by nature, so these qualities transcend well when dealing with dogs. I'm also a very active person at moments of the day, and very calm at other moments, so no matter what the dog's personality, we usually adapt very well to one another. Enamored by these god-given creatures, I feel as if it's my duty to be a caregiver.

Information Julie G. would like to know about your pet

I do not have breed preferences. The main thing I like to know about the animal is their diet. I believe dogs should be kept on relatively strict diets because many breeds are susceptible to gastro-intestinal issues if foods and meal times are not planned and adhered to.

A typical day

The animal's personality will dictate what we do together. For highly active dogs, I know of several dog parks and recreational parks and of course the river trails are excellent places to go in Philadelphia. Some small dogs who are high energy like to play in the house (like my Yorkie), so that is an option. No matter what the energy level, I believe all dogs need walks and exercise so that is my top priority. If the owner allows car rides, I would also take the animal on errands (weather permitting), as I know many dogs love to be trail blazers.
