Why I love dog sitting My first pet, Shadow the black lab, joined our family 5 months before I came into the world. I grew up with her, and my siblings and I were taught animal husbandry from a young age. Our mother grew up on a farm, and so we also had exposure to a range of animals and their care and needs. I have been pet sitting since I was 10 years old. Over the last 12 years I began volunteering with rescue groups and shelters, and continued to pet sit on a more serious and regular basis.
