Pet care experience
I am a fourth year dual Masters of Public Health and veterinary student at Virginia-Maryland College of Vet Med with extensive experience working with pets of friends, neighbors, vet clients, and my own. I have owned dogs my whole life and love every aspect of their care. I've been pet sitting/dog walking since I was about 10, and am equipped with knowledge to care for pets of all ages, breeds, and conditions. I also worked as a dog walker for the vet school last year, so I am your girl if you want someone who has walked a LOT of different dogs. If you need someone to give meds, no problem! If you have a puppy, great! I have been spending my school breaks dog sitting/walking at home since undergrad, but I'm now ready to incorporate Rover into my life. Side note: I adopted a puppy last year, so I am VERY familiar with working with puppies. I have extensively trained her and would be more than happy to care for/help with training for your puppies as well! (I understand the patience required...) I went to Virginia Tech for undergrad and now vet school, so I've been in the area for a LONG time, and have no issue travelling a bit outside of Blacksburg if necessary.

I am so thankful that while I was away, Julia cared for my dog, Fern. With Julia, I automatically knew that Fern was in great hands. Being away from home without Fern was hard, but it was made so much better with Julia. Her communication with me was impeccable. With pictures, visit report cards, and videos, I knew that Fern was her priority. Julia was even willing to make amendments to our original schedule/care plan to make sure Fern was getting all the love and attention she deserves. During our initial meet and great Julia made me feel comfortable with her in my house immediately, Fern felt the same way! Julia asked important questions about specific care for Fern. Julia is insightful, knowledgeable, and comfortable with the challenges of having a reactive dog, as well as understanding medication requirements and dietary restrictions. Julia was respectful of my home and let me know if there were any issues.

There are two dogs in our house. I have a 1 year old, spayed rescue pup who LOVES to play with other dogs. My roommate has a 3 year old neutered rescue pup as well. We have a fenced in yard and a big house. Both pups are fully vaccinated and play well with others. When I visit other people's houses, I ask for strict instructions to provide the best care for your pet. Do you let your dogs in the backyard to roam? Are they allowed on furniture? Do they have any special needs/medications? What food do they have/need to be fed? How many times a day do you need your pet walked? Would you want to have a doggie playdate with my puppy? I am at your service and want you to fully trust me with your pet. I want your pet to have a great time and will send lots of pictures to you!

A typical day
My goal is for your pet to be well cared for and have fun! I will send you LOTS of pictures, videos, and frequent updates. My favorite walking trail is the Huckleberry trail, but I'm always excited to check out a new trail/park. Now that I've gained experience with training my own puppy, I also love dog training! I would be happy to work on any fun tricks your dog may know, or just spend time playing fetch.

I am a fourth year vet student on clinical rotations so my schedule is frequently changing. I am most available in the evenings and weekends. Please feel free to reach out to set something up!
