SPECIAL: Board, train, and groom!
Pet care experience
Over 20 years of experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, fish, and reptiles! I babysit for dogs ranging from 10 lb chihuahuas and 9 week old puppies to 120 lb American Bully/Mastiff. I have a year of dog training experience with a former Cali K9® trainer and spend at least 15 minutes a day working on basic obedience with each of my clients. I have 2 years of experience working in animal shelters and hospitals as a veterinary technician and 10 years of experience as a lifeguard. I will make sure that your fur baby is happy and healthy with complimentary grooming and administration of prescription medications you provide. You can also rest easy knowing they are safe as I am trained in administering emergency first aid including, but not limited to, bandaging wounds, CPR, and treating heat exhaustion.
Reviews
Julia is amazing! She was clearly a really engaged and loving dog host. We will definitely Rover with her again.
Rosie had the BEST time at Julia's! She was very communicative, sent lots of pictures and updates. Rosie went on lots of walks with Julia's dog Nova and Julia made sure that she was comfortable given the heat wave - she even gave her a bath! Rosie is an 8 month old Bernedoodle puppy with a LOT of energy so she's not the easiest but we are grateful that she felt at home and in great care.
Julia was a perfect sitter! Both of our rowdy dogs were well taken care of under her watch. She took them both on hikes/runs and was very communicative throughout their stay. She was responsible and trustworthy with them both being a little anxious in a new environment! They came home happy and sleepy after a weekend of exciting fun! Would definitely love for her to watch them again!
Julia is great at taking care of pets. She trains her dog and walks her dog twice a day. She has volunteered at a pet hospital in the past, so she knows standard operating procedures for hygiene and basic medical maintenance. I highly recommend her!

I recently moved to Oakland, CA where I live in a house with three spare bedrooms. With all that space, I couldn’t wait to expand my business! I accept up to 4 dogs at a time, with each dog having their own space to eat (and sleep if they choose). If you have more than one dog to board, they share their own room! Cuddlers who like to sleep on the bed and couch are also welcome. I never leave dogs together unsupervised unless they come from the same family. I encourage those with crate-trained dogs to provide their own crates and beds. If your dog is not crate-trained, they must be able to stay in a bedroom without causing damage such as digging, chewing furniture, or scratching. While I am home, friendly dogs will be able to socialize under my supervision. If your dog is more of an introvert, I will happily provide them with the space and human attention they prefer. No dogs with aggression towards people or other dogs will be accepted.

Information Julia P. would like to know about your pet
All friendly and healthy dogs are welcome! I recommend that you provide your own leash and collar, food, treats/chews/bones, bed, blanket, and toys for your dog. I can provide a crate if needed. PLEASE ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS TRUTHFULLY. ANY FALSE STATEMENTS THAT RESULT IN DAMAGE TO PROPERTY OR INJURIES WILL RESULT IN EARLY DISMISSAL AND/OR AN ADDITIONAL FINE. 1. Is your dog house-trained? How many hours do they normally wait in between potty breaks? 2. Is your dog crate trained? 3. How do they interact with other dogs - Friendly/Aloof/Avoidant/Aggressive)? 4. What behavioral issues or quirks do they have? (e.g. excessive barking, separation anxiety, digging, chewing, food/toy guarding). Does your dog have any triggers I should be aware of that cause this behavior? 5. Does your dog have any allergies, food or otherwise? 6. Please provide any prescription medication your dog needs as well as instructions for administration. 7. Please provide a copy of the most recent vaccination records. Photo or email ok. 8. Please administer flea medication to your dog prior to boarding.
A typical day
On weekends I enjoy taking dogs for walks around Marina Park. At home I use boiled chicken breast as a natural, healthy treat that dogs love for our fun and engaging training sessions! With belly rubs, wrestling, games of chase, and finally cuddles, by the end of the day your pup will be happily curled up and snoozing on a soft bed.

Availability
I provide a 20 minute walk in the morning before I go to work, and a half hour walk in the evening when I come home (or if your dog is especially energetic, a 20 minute run!). During the week I work full-time, so your dog must be able to wait 8 hours in between morning and evening walks. On weekends I am home all day and we take an hour to take a long walk/play/train at a large park! On walks we practice good leash manners. After our walks in the evening I conduct at least 3 spontaneous obedience training sessions in 5 minute blocks. This helps train dogs to know that they should always be ready to listen to commands, and they will be rewarded well!
