Friend to All Animals

Pet care experience

Not much else in life brings me more happiness than spending time with animals! I have raised animals all my life- I've had family dogs, cats, horses, and rats and have personally owned three cats. I also have experience with ferrets and other rodents, birds, fish, and reptiles including snakes. I currently have a spunky 2-year old cat named Athena and she's my absolute best friend. She's vocal, friendly, and playful, but will stay to herself for a while if there's another animal in the room. Whether your pet likes to play fetch or tug-of-war, take long walks at the park, watch Netflix on the couch, or cuddle, I will gladly enjoy that time alongside them and encourage whatever activity it is they love! I have experience administering medicine and first aid, following dietary restrictions, and caring for puppies and kittens. Whatever needs your pet may have, I will ensure they are taken care of to your liking! I've even aided in the birth of a puppy when one of my client's two Huskies gave birth out of the blue in my kitchen two weeks into his five week trip oversees! As he didn't know his dog was pregnant this was quite the surprise!!! I had never seen a dog give birth before this but quickly learned what to do and how to handle the situation. After the birth, momma was extremely protective of her pup, and wouldn't let anyone get within a foot of her or her baby for days. After 2 full days of immobility, the momma finally got up to go outside and "take care of business". It was then I discovered the puppy had a badly injured and bleeding paw, which explained why the mom was so protective (even biting anyone who would try to touch her). With careful attention and care, communicating with the dog owner to ensure he was comfortable every step of the way, the puppy was stable and healthy in no time. I am very happy to report that both mom and son are alive and well 3 years later! The dog (his name is Bullet!) is missing his back paw but that doesn't stop him from running around with his mom and dad all day! This situation was intense but I'm grateful to have experienced it, not only because it was beautiful to witness but for the experience I gained caring for animals and handling emergencies calmly and quickly.

Safety, trust & environment

In my home: There is a lush outdoor "bark park" on the 14th floor pool deck of my building for quick walks where your dog has the privacy for their business but can socialize with other dogs! For longer walks, I live walking distance to various lakes, trails, and parks that are safe for your pet to enjoy. If your dog can visit a dog park, Lake Baldwin Dog Park is a close drive away- my car has folding seats leaving plenty of room in the back for your furry friend! I will gladly wash your pup at a dog wash for an additional $5! My apartment has a large balcony for your dog to get some fresh air in between walks. I have sufficient space in my home for crates, beds, toys, training pads, etc. if needed. Your home: I am willing to discuss required duties and arrangements for overnight stays in your home or scheduled check-ins while you're away or out of town. Contact me to discuss if we'd be a good fit!

Information Julia P. would like to know about your pet

Tell me about your pet!!! What treats do they like? Do they like to cuddle? Are they the type to play, or would they rather sleep? Help me get to know your pet so I can best care for them! Let me know if your pet has any special needs, dietary restrictions, conditions, allergies, or quirks I should take note of. If you have any special care instructions, please ensure they are provided clearly and in writing. Please provide a way to get in touch with you in case of an emergency. If your pet has a preferred vet, I would like their name and phone number to have on file if your pet is staying in my home whether for the day or overnight.

A typical day

Me and your furry friend could have a blast playing with their favorite toy, taking a stroll around Lake Eola, visiting Lake Baldwin dog park, or even just hang out on the couch! Whatever your pet likes to do, I will make that happen!
