Pet care experience
I've taken care of cats and dogs of all sizes and breeds from the second I could walk! I've had dogs ranging from toy poodles (I have two of the sweetest girls with me in Halifax), standard poodles, and black russian terriers, and have pet sat for the past 6 years for friends, family, and neighbors. I have also owned a cat when I was young, and I have a bengal here in Halifax who loves playing with my dogs, but has his own space he normally stays in. I worked at an exotic animal camp in Toronto for a couple of years as well, so I have experience with almost all types of animals! I've also dealt with pets with health complications - my first dog had brain cancer and I helped to monitor her wellbeing and medication/feeding schedules so I would be comfortable watching a pet with medical needs.

I don’t even have the words to say how amazing Julia is!!! She treated our girl like one of her own. We had never left our 5 month old Golden before and we were incredibly nervous but Julia was in contact with us daily and sent lots of pictures as well. Sadie had the best time! We will 100% be using Julia again!
Julia took care of my dog for 6night. She sent me so many pic my dog's playing with her dog. My dog seemed to stay so comfy. She is awsome!!! I definitely contect her again when we have another trip. I never worried when I got first pic that she sent me. Thanks a lot Julia
Julia was great to work with! I got pictures or video every day. My dog (pomeranian) did very well with her two dogs and cat. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her because I had some small changes while I was away and she was accommodating every step - I needed that flexibility when I was away. Thanks Julia!
Julia was great! It was the first time our puppy (Willamena) had been boarded away from home, and her first experience living with other dogs. Julia invited us for a neet and greet

I live in an apartment, but frequently take my dogs for walks around the public gardens, or when the weather is nice, I take them down to point pleasant park. I have two of my own puppies to keep yours company, and a cat who I believe thinks he's a dog! If they were ever alone, the dogs and cat are all separated because I want to ensure all play time is monitored for everyone's best interest!

Information Julia M. would like to know about your pet
If your dog has any special needs, please let me know in advance so I can make sure I am equipped to handle it/make modifications. If there is any issues with dog/other animal reactivity for walks, etc., please let me know!
A typical day
Typically, I take my dogs for walks around the public gardens, then when we get home I toss a toy around until they get tired. When the weather is good, I walk them down to point pleasant and take them on the trails - my dogs have good recall so when it isn't busy, I let them off leash in the open areas to throw a ball, but if that would be something you would want me to do, I'd need to verify that your dog will respond to being called before with you to avoid any problems. When the weather is bad, I normally take them to citadel (1 minute walk from me) to go out, then throw toys/a ball down the hall in my apartment unit which is long until they get tired out, and I'll actively engage with them to make sure all their needs are met!

Availability
I’m a student at Dalhousie, and taking a break from working to focus on school and my fur babies, so I have plenty of time to give them all of the attention they need and deserve! My schedule varies so my availability changes week-to-week, but I can accommodate same-day requests and can normally shift things around to make it work for you and your pet to ensure they receive the best care!
