Caring for animals is my calling.

Pet care experience

I have been professionally pet sitting for 10+ years. In my personal life, I grew up with a variety of different kinds of pets. Presently I have two dogs of my own. I have a soft spot for the nervous, fearful and anxious dogs. I also love senior pets. I confidently provide a variety of pet sitting and animal care services, and worked in emergency, specialty and shelter veterinary medicine previously. I have extensive experience providing in home care for senior, disabled, and unwell pets. I have managed insulin regimens, congestive heart failure, thyroid disease, kidney disease, pancreatitis, seizure disorders, and post surgical patients. I have substantial experience working with dogs and cats that cannot walk, pets with orthopedic injuries, as well as deaf and blind pets. I’ve worked with many cases of fear aggression and reactivity. I will treat your pets like my own and the same goes with your home. I can do meals, give medicine, give walks and baths, clean ears, trim toenails and brush your pet’s teeth. If you have caged pets, I’ll happily do any cage cleaning, socialization and handling, and feeding for those pets as well. I can help with cleaning house, checking mail, watering plants, gardening, yard work, trash and recycling, or any other various tasks you may need help with. I am also happy to care for livestock and farm animals, and have a lot of experience with horses and chickens in particular.

Thank you so much for watching our pets while we were out of state! We appreciate all the pictures and updates provided. Knowing that you were watching our pets gave us peace of mind so we didn't worry and were able to enjoy our time away. Highly recommended.

I am very detail oriented and follow instructions well. If the pet parent doesn’t have any explicit instructions, and I am in their home, I will look around for things that are meant for the animal, such as toys or food, and try to engage with the animal to get them to play and interact and be active. I like to just hang out with pets, watching tv and doing chores and acting like the pet is just part of my usual day to day as much as possible. My goal is to cause as little disruption to your pet’s life and typical routine as possible. I want your pet to feel at home with me in their home, or visiting at my home. I will treat your pet as if they were my own, and give them the care and attention I would give to my own pets, who I treat with adoration and respect.

Information Julia L. would like to know about your pet

I am a veterinary technician, and am very comfortable giving oral, topical and ear medications, as well as insulin injections, fluids and subcutaneous (sub-Q) shots. If your pet has any dietary, health or behavioral concerns, it is important for me to know these things. I like to know the veterinarian you use, if your pet is up to date with vaccines (rabies most importantly), and how they interact with other animals.

A typical day

I live in a quiet suburban neighborhood near a lot of nice walking trails. If the pup is up for long walks, we can do that. If they are more of a lounger, we can just sit in my backyard and sunbathe. Sometimes we may go through the Starbucks drive through and get puppacinos (if parents say so), or go get a scoop of ice cream at the local ice cream shop. Lots of petting and snuggles are part of every day, too.
