Pet care experience
Welcome to my profile! For the past six years, I have studied and worked in Brooklyn, and I have delighted in walking and sitting dogs through Rover in each neighborhood I have lived in. Since moving away from home and having to leave the dogs I grew up with behind I love finding opportunities to spend time with animals and build trust and communication with them. My experience includes volunteering for animal rescues in DC and in Peru, sitting professionally for clients, and for friends, family, and neighbors, and working with positive reinforcement trainers for my family's dogs back home, who are reactive. I enjoy going on long walks, hikes, runs, and exploring the city, so if your dog is high energy, a puppy, or just needs a lot of stimulation and exercise, we would be a great fit! I also have experience watching older dogs or lower-energy breeds who simply need a calm place to stay. I can accommodate most schedules and reasonable requests, feel free to message if you have any questions and tell me more about your pup! One bonus - my apartment has an elevator and primate balcony with a potty area, so frequent potty breaks can be accommodated. Open to pickup and drop off, and last minute requests.
Reviews
My pups are so lucky to have Julia!!
Julia was an incredible sitter! She sent timely updates and pictures. My dog was really happy with her and she took well care of him. I will definitely use Julia’s services in the future!
Julia is very friendly and a great walker for Farrah!
Communicate and caring! We will book Julia again to walk Farrah.

Safety, trust & environment
My apartment is pretty dog-proofed. I make sure not to leave out anything toxic to dogs (gum, chocolate, etc...) and to put away anything I would not want to get destroyed. I am open to continuing any training you might have with your dog, such as sitting and waiting before a meal or ignoring other dogs on a walk.

Information Julia H. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know: - How much your dog eats - Any allergies? - Is your dog good with other dogs, people, or cats? - Can your dog be let off-leash in off-leash areas? - Does your dog have separation anxiety? - Is your dog destructive when left alone? - Does your dog mark? - Is your dog potty trained? - What should I do in case of an emergency? - What is your vets number and address? - What commands does your dog know? - If allowed off-leash, how good is your dog's recall?
A typical day
I usually start the day with a morning walk and getting or making coffee. If I have work, I would love to leave your dog with a puzzle treat or toy while I am gone. I have time to check-in during lunch, so your pup wouldn't be alone for more than 3-4 hours at a time.

Availability
I work at a lab 3 days a week, though I might have to go in on my off days to complete various tasks. Weekday sits work best for my schedule.
