Pet care experience
I have experience volunteering at an animal shelter walking and socializing dogs of many different breeds, sizes, and personalities. I also have personal and professional experience caring for dogs, cats, fish, farm animals, and other household pets as I’ve been pet sitting in the Eugene/Springfield area on and off for about 7 years and moved to full-time pet sitting in the last 6 months and am loving it!! My large dog is reactive so I have had to do a lot of work with him so far and am constantly learning about dog behavior and training methods. I am patient and understanding of animal’s cues and boundaries which allows your pet to feel more comfortable but I am also big on giving lots of love because I truly love my job and the pets I get to work with. I am always willing to work with you and reactive/sensitive/special needs pets at whatever pace is most comfortable and safe.

Julia was lovely with our very elderly cat; she was there twice a day to handle food, water, meds, litter, and affection, and all of this seemed to be handled as well as we could have hoped. I hope she'll want to return in future!

I have no breed preferences or restrictions just as long as I can physically handle them if we are going on walks (a lot of strong pulling can trigger my chronic pain so please be open about this ahead of time). I'm always willing to work with dogs who might be a challenge but knowing about any difficulties or sensitivities ahead of time is important for me to help your animal feel comfortable
A typical day
I like to go on walks with lots of sniffing for stimulation while also having a space where animals can be unleashed and be themselves, whether that be in their own home or outside. I also like to learn your pet’s personality and play style and boundaries on cuddles and affection

Availability
My work is currently focusing on pet sitting so I can devote lots of time to caring for your babies! I try to accommodate the pet’s schedule the best I can. I occasionally like to spend some time at home and with my senior dog (although she is also in the care of my partner) but I won’t leave pets alone longer than 4 hours or whatever their schedule is as they are priority!
